Bill,

Thanks for this review! It was very complimentary, and I felt like you really got what the game was about, so awesome.

Anyone with any questions - feel free to shoot them out. I'll be watching this thread.

Ammeni (ah, sweet Ammeni) is brutalized by a backstabbing council of power-mad despots and their poisoning agents.... Khale is a dense forest of tribal warriors. (I find them to be the least compelling.)
That's pretty funny.

The Ammeni hold absolutely no interest at all for me (except as targets for a good spear to the vitals) while the very first character I made up for the game was a Khale.

But then I also have zero use for Lunars except as targets for a good Orlanthi axe to the skull...

I guess I enjoy the tragic pattern of proud nation too busy fighting amongst themselves to ward off the real enemy until its too late. Many of my fantasy PCs are flavored with healthy doses of Vercingetorix.

People's reactions to this are interesting. Personally, I loved the Khale until I started a heavy campaign in Ammeni. Now, the Ammenites (not their government - the people) are my favorites. The Khaleans always come off as stoners in my game for some reason.

I find the Khale a bit blah myself, and the Ammenites the most interesting. While we're on aesthetics, I find a bit silly (for lack of a better term) that the war is between the two people that have no access to metal, the idea that they whack each other to death with wooden sticks feels faintly ludicrous.

Lots of people throughout history have whacked each other to death with wooden sticks. Or wooden sticks and rocks. Sharp rocks.

Clinton, I had long been planning to buy a copy (I was holding out 'til Gencon SoCal, but since it seems like you won't be there this year...), but now with the prospects of a new revised edition, I'm thinking about waiting.

Can you offer a bit more information about the new edition, in particular, what your plans are for the release? Will it be pdf of will there be a printed version?

Funny enough- that was my first reading of Khale as well- stoners :P But yeah, the whole oppression/resistance thing was what really appealed to me about TSOY.

It's becoming more of a parallel release - TSOY, Fudge edition, kinda. It does contain a lot more stuff, though - new Keys and Secrets and GM advice, and a streamlined system. It will definitely be a print edition, with a very limited release at GenCon. I'll print more this fall.

Whether or not it'll be a PDF is still up in the air.

Absolutely. I just prefer elaborate metalwork I guess.
