We have found with Quo Vadis that people often underestimate the value of the 1vp chits for helping others out.

Sure you could get lucky and set up for a string of fives, but generally the amount of maneuvering you have to do to get two or three points is nothing compared to what you can make in other people's turns by helping them out.

It's because of this 'cooperation is the key to success' factor that we usually only play this game after we've played a really bitter game where everyone is still smarting and looking to stab other players in the back. It's our own little meta-game.

I thought the pieces were meant to be fasces. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces

Good game.

Thanks for another good review Shannon. Quo Vadis looks bery appealing, but I'm afraid the price is a bit offputting. I can't find a copy in print in German at adamspielt.de and the price of getting a copy from the UK or the US is painful. I'll keep an eye on Ebay.

It seems like a simple game to manufacture; does the quality of board and piece match the price?

Mayfair Games are all a little on the expensive side.

In this release I think the pawns are *great*, the board is *good*, and the laurels are *adequate*, so it's a bit of a mixed bag. It sure looks pretty though.

On the other hand last game I ended up with a pile of 1s and was thumped by all the 4s and 5s other players had stacked up.

I've been told that too; what I wrote was what the rules say, however.
