The Combined DC/Marvel Super Team Draft!!!
Two Titanic Universe For The Price Of One!!!
This thread is a draft for membership in a number of DC Comics and Marvel Universe superhero teams. Characters can be drafted from both universes as though they have always existed on the same Earth.
The teams are set, and no other teams will be allowed unless you’re totally jonesin’ for it and those with teams already can agree on where to put you in the drafting order.
Characters must be heroes, “anti-heroes”, redeemable/non-hardcore villains, or villains with some history of or inclination toward switching sides, i.e. Catwoman is okay, The Joker is not. Magneto is okay, Dr. Doom is not.
Characters from alternate or future timelines are valid, if they make some sort of sense (to me, I guess, but Ill be lenient!). Spider-Girl seems to have been fairly mainstreamed, so she could be a Teen Titan. Anyone from the LSH could be a Teen Titan (trapped in past, in love with someone in our time, etc.). Hell, the whole Teen Titans could be far-future versions of modern heroes. I know there are LSH timeline descendants of Superman and The Flash, right?...
Two instances of the same character is not allowed, save where there’s precedence or a creative explanation – Superboy can be in the past (in a small town in Kansas) or in the future (in the LSH), AND Superman can be in the present, because that Superboy could travel thru time with ease.
That said, don't munchkin or I will sick my Omega Beams on you!
Here’s the process:
Round 0 was snatching up teams. (It was called round 1, but I thought it better to start fresh now)
Rounds 1-7: In round 1, each team picks one team member, in the order established in Round 1, and that character is no longer available to anyone else (with some exceptions possible). Round 2 works in reverse order, from the team picked last in round 1 to the team picked first in round 1. We continue this reversing with each round.
You can PM me with a list of picks (multiple, even if you’re PMing me just one Round’s worth, in order of preference), IF you foresee not being able to get to a computer when your turn to pick comes around. You can also have a proxy pick for you, but you gotta let me know who that proxy is!
I am not installing a set time limit on how long we’ll wait for a drafter to draft a hero. Granted, we all want to draft, but even super heroes have to sleep sometime. That includes me!
If a supporting character is crucial to you and the team, I'd pick them during the main draft process if I were you.
Dead, schmead! Retcon, schmetcon! If these two universes have been together the whole time, who's to say whose death wasn't prevented by the presence of so-and-so or such-and-such, and who says any of those retcons happened. Between pre-Crisis and post-Crisis, Marvel regular updated origins, alternate earths, Hypertime, and who knows what else, I can't imagine keeping things limited to one small instance of continuity. Hopefully this won't make for too many draft problems or confusions. If they died a good death (Marvel's Captain Marvel, for instance....and it just occured to me that we have a universe with 2 Captain Marvels), keep them dead, or at least come up with some half-baked explanation as to why or how they're back.
But don’t pull any Squadron Supreme $#!t. They’re just another Justice League, so no fair!
Round 8: Pick main villain or to trouble your team, or a supporting charcter if you really want) for your one-year story arc, carrying over with the crazy reversing order thing from round 7.
Round 9: Pick a second villain or supporting character.

Freaky cool ideas your dreaming up for your team.
So Donald Stone’s first post would read something like:
Round 1
1
THE AVENGERS
(however DS wants to describe them, since they had no abstract team concept during the team draft)
Wonder Woman!
Avengers Mansion, in the heart of Manhattan!
or something.
Things to think about
:
Heroes who remain undrafted by the end could be dead! If no one drafts Dr. Strange, "The Death of Dr. Strange" might be a key moment in the history of this universe...
It might be fun to come up with a crossover event for all the team’s annuals. It would be cool if by the time we get to the story arcin’ there were some history and crises established.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for!
Let the drafting begin!
Donald Stone! I call you forth! Who shall be first to join the ranks of the band of heroes the world calls – THE AVENGERS!!!?
