[Board/Tactical Game]: Parthenon, reviewed by ShannonA (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/11/11549.phtml

Shannon Appelcline's Summary:

A well-designed and pretty civilization game set in the Ancient World. Consider it Civilization meets The Settlers of Catan, with good gameplay taken from both schools of design.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a good game I might want to pick up. (Particularly with the Greek theme )

Am I right in having the impression from your review that the only purpose of armies is to browbeat villages into doubling production?

Largely.

They also help against one very specific Harbor Status (Tribute), and they can be vital if you really need to get to a city with that status currently.
