Robo-Rally is the awesomest game ever!

And it's even more fun to play drunk!

Don't listen to the bit about "analytical gamers". The game is absolutely the most fun for the non-analytical and somewhat inebriated gamer.

Yes, he forgot to mention the "robot dance!"

As long as said drunk gamer has a sense of humor and doesn't get freaking frustrated angry and flips the table over like a pounting 4 year old. And I have seen people get that frustrated. This game can be cruel, so if you don't have a sense of humor, stay away.

I concur. I personally enjoyed the game - but I'm a somewhat analytical guy. I played this game a few times with different people, and we were split almost evenly. Half of us thought it was awesome. The other half (which included some kids) almost started crying and vowed never to play the game again. This game is absolutely not designed for everyone, but for those with a sense of humor and the ability to laugh as their pawn is destroyed by a fluke complication, it's a gas.

Good Game, Weak Components

I picked up a copy of this cheap on Ebay, even though I've got most of the original sets. It's got some very good changes, but the boards themselves are lower quality and I've heard so are the cards.

That said, it's nice to have another copy. It's a fun game.

Weak components?

The components are lesser than the original? That's odd for one of these "Avalon Hill" Hasbro re-releases. Usually it's something like, "Sure the new components are swell, but (some other grumble)."

Well, I can't complain about the new components - the start boards are alright, I guess, the new fangled plastic flags are really nice, the little mats for each player that have rules tips on them were a good idea, and the hourglass is perfectly... hourglassy.

It's the remaking of the old components that are generally blah. There's also a lot of empty space in the box, but I'm hoping it's because they're planning to make expansion sets of boards.
