[Comic]: Artesia Annual #2, reviewed by ShannonA (5/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/11/11586.phtml

Shannon Appelcline's Summary:

Contains a few short stories, but more importantly a Tour of Artesia's Known World, a vital piece of background for the series, and an interesting fantasy world in its own right.

Annual #2 and RPG

I have a copy of the Artesia RPG's Gencon Limited Edition, and it is, indeed, one of the most (if not the most) beautiful game out there.

As for the game supplanting the annual, the game does contain more and more detailed information than the annual, but anyone running a game set in the Known World couldn't ask for a better introductory text to hand out to their players than the comic annual #2 (that's what I'm doing with it right now).

In case you haven't seen Artesia annual #3 yet, it includes an amazing, detailed timeline of Known World history from it's mythic creation to the present day of the comics, accompanied by very nice "snapshot" maps of critical times in the history.

Between the current setting description in annual #2, the history in annual #3, and the text pieces in the back of the trade paperbacks, you could run a game with just these resources until the actual game gets out.

Man, they need to collect those annuals and put out another compilation book.

Have you playtested it yet John? I'd be interested in seeing your thoughts on how it went.
