If you’re a player of any Pulp game, or for that matter any game in the 1920s or 30s, this is a great resource.

I doubt I'd ever run a HERO-based game, but this is review provided a very nice overview of the book.

How far into the realm of superpowers do abilities go in the book?

They do a nice job of modeling various elements that could constitute super powers, like breaking iron bars, but don't actually go into flight like super man would have. That would be a champiosn game. You'd do something probably like the Rocketer with a jet pack, which is modeled here under the werid science section.

Also: Nice Maps

Keith Curtis did a spifferiffic job on the book's many maps, I think. This is an important point to gamers like me who regard cartography as a form of porn

[ObDisclaimer: Wrote bits of the book. Obvious Shill.]
