Design your own Firefly episodes

Only a paragraph or so description but basically episodes you've like to have seen from the movie onward.

My sig has thirty four, but that's more for a spin-off.

Re: Design your own Firefly episodes

May I alter the rules? Every poster has to write one episode plot, picking up with Firefly: Rise Again, the new series, which follows on directly from the film. Once you write an ep, it's locked, next poster has to go on from there. If we get to twenty, that's a season.

Pilot: Rise Again

With the heat on, Mal and the crew have holed up in a prairie town. Inara, Simon and Kaylee have found work at a local hospital, patching up the injured who fought in the Reaver Wars. Thanks to the brave actions of the Alliance, the Reavers have been all-but exterminated, and the war will be over Real Soon Now, We Promise. It's been a year since the Miranda Transmission, and it's been six months on planetside. Mal, Zoe, Jayne and River are stalking the cage, looking for a fight, but they know River is still a danger to them. Although her died hair and new wardrobe make her far less noticeable.

They get one when they're hired to bring back a huge passel of medicine stolen from the hospital. Course, by the time they catch up with the varmints, Mal realises that not only is the thief one of his old war buddies, but they were just pulling the kind of job he used to take. Dammit, he really has been gone too long. His buddy's working for Niska though, and he's not as honourable as Mal, nor does he want Niska as an enemy. Mal decides its time to get back into the business, and takes up with his compatriots. Kaylee and Simon are horrified, and threaten to leave the ship. But it all becomes moot when Niska's ship comes into view....

Re: Design your own Firefly episodes

I agree SteveD, that works best.

Rise Again Part II

Niska is met onboard a huge ship that we find is an Alliance Cruiser. Niska has lost A LOT of influence after Mal's attack on his space station destroyed extreme amounts of his credibility. Niska has instead taken up as the personal black marketeer of an Alliance Admiral named Korben whom we discover is a war profiteer.

The Alliance's unrest and corruption at the top resulted in a power vacuum that the cronies of the Alliance are taking advantage of to more or less do as they please. In Korben's case, he's robbing the Alliance and selling back to individuals while diverting large amounts of shipments to and frow. Mal is frankly appalled as is everyone else to find the cruiser's crew is seemingly more pirate than Alliance since the Admiral has let them in largely on it. The crew are tossed in the brig with some funny scenes where River is brought to the Admiral's chambers for a night of love after reviewing the women of Serenity and she beats him painfully before slipping out. Elsewise, Niska comments to Mal's friends that they need a lot more guns.....a lot of colonies have started to get "their fighting spirit back" and comments that war is good for business...so long as you're on neither side.

The episode ends with an Alliance Colonel sneaking out Mal and company from their cages as he wrongly believes Mal is an Operative sent by the Alliance to stop the madness that's taken over the vessel. A gunfight emerges as Mal watches the Alliance man take a bullet for him.

The crew escape, leaving the Admiral and Niska behind as they find their ship loaded with the medical supplies as well as more to be sold back to the populous. Jayne complains they're not behaving in a piratical fashion anymore. Mal comments they're not pirates anymore but something else...

Re: Design your own Firefly episodes

Simon absent-mindedly reveals in conversation that all Alliance flight schools require their students to preserve sperm samples, like every other high-risk profession in the Alliance 'Verse does.

Zoe decides to recover it from the Alliance military hospital its stored at.

Re: Design your own Firefly episodes

I imagine that episodes contains some fairly whacky hijinks from Jayne as he tries to figure out when the hell this completely stopped being about money. Also Kaylee and Simon with plenty of their own sexcapades (since Simon "loosened up") they're probably add it all the time.

I'd call it "Baby Factory."

2.04 "Arms Dealing"

Malcomn Renyolds is seeking out new vistas since he's left the enterprise behind him and finds himself contacted by a Australian accented (why not?) arms dealer named Clorien (whom I weirdly envision acting a lot like Doctor Good Deal from "Mad Max 3") whom believes Malcolm Renyolds brutal activities will serve as an excellent deterrent while he smuggles a gigantic cargo of ammo, explosives, military rations, and energy weapons (with generators) to a colony in the Outer territories.

Malcolm of course believes this equipment is necessary to defend against the Reavers (whom Simon observes seems to have a lot more numbers than their initial 30,000 would have suggested). Inara brings up the possibility that the weapons are going to terrorists fighting the Alliance, Malcolm has no problem with that either. Clorian pays half-up front and it's an incredibly large amount, equal to their entire pay from the previous job with the medical facility robbery.

The episode is largely spent with River piloting the group away from attacking fighters and other hostiles until they land. Malcolm stares when he finds that he's delivering weapons to the ALLIANCE. The garrison here is totally out of weapons and they've been denied any further resupplies while the locals more or less are killing and hacking up Pro-Alliance individuals left and right (the hatred from people who've suffered Reaver attacks plus the reminders of the bio-weapons from the Civil War is great).

Malcolm's plan for getting out of this one? He doesn't. He loses this time and they leave their cargo before leaving the planet. Malcolm increasingly aware of the consequences of his actions on Miranda.

***

I think also the episodes would be more sci-fi like Serenity than the original Wild West bits.

Points also for anyone who ties in to previous episodes in this 'season'

Re: Design your own Firefly episodes

2.05 Blood

Before Zoe brings her husband's son into this world, she decides it wouldn't sit right without the permission of the grandparents. She digs through Wash's things and sets out to find his family.

They turn out to be carnival folk, a whole passel of them, with Wash somewhere in the middle of thirteen kids. They never really minded losing a few, and the Washbourne seed are all over the galaxy. However, Wash's young brother Gideon looks a lot like his elder, and Zoe gets all torn up anew, and realises she still has some grieving to do.

Meanwhile Jayne falls in love with a knifethrower who's everything he's ever wanted in a woman. She puts him onto the fact that the Alliance don't hold with carnies, and they could use some muscle. With Mal turning into a soldier, Jayne wonders if it isn't time he got off the boat and found new employment. And Mal's wondering what's left holding his crew together...

2.06 The Girl He Left Behind

Guest starring Morena Baccarin

After the dust settled, Inara was unable to return to the Companions' Guild, but found herself in some demand as a public speaker. Her notoriety has, of course, drawn unwanted attention as well as the wanted kind. Mal can't really help due to being at least as notorious, but Simon, Kaylee and Zoe all can since, with Simon's help, they can pass tolerably well in society. Of course, Kaylee's a little distracted by Simon in a tux...

(Edit: Arg. Inara's in the pilot... Okay...)

Stopping in on a fairly settled planet (say the one from the Baby Factory episode) Inara gets off to check her credit rating... and finds herself famous. Episode proceeds from there, but with less Mal-and-Inara-acting-like-exes awkwardness jokes.

Re: Design your own Firefly episodes

2.07

Hungry

After a close scrape with an Alliance gunship, Serenity is forced to make an emergency landing on the barren rocky surface of a barely tereformed moon. In the crash, the ship's food stocks and most of its water are destroyed. As dehydration and hunger kick in, the crew members start to turn on each other, and old unspoken rivalries, fears, and resentments start to come out unchecked. Lots of really intense character conflict, close-ups to capture the subtle characterizations on everyone’s sweaty-soaked faces, and the chance for Jayne to do something noble on the sneak when he leaves the protein biscuit he was hoarding for River to find.
