Algernon Files "Setting"

Pretty good review, for the most part, except for the comment on the 'setting'...
Algernon Files really has no more of a 'Setting' than "Enemies' did, for Champions!
While the character backstories sometimes mention other characters in the book, you really can just 'plug and play' them by swapping characters that are not in your game, for characters that are!

Yes, you did mention that it wasn't supposed to be a Setting book earlier in your review, but I felt this last comment might confuse some people...

If you're not sure how good the book is, check out some of the Writeups on the Website, listed as 'Extras'...
'The Crone', for example, is (shall we say) somewhat reminiscent of a certain Russian character of Myth and Folklore (Baba Yaga, Mother of Ogres), and quite a handful for most Player Characters!

"Steal" is a bit harsh. It implies a lack of creativity and the hope that no one will notice.

Items like the mentioned Anton Loveless are called "Easter Eggs," or when less direct, "homages." They're carefully picked, and the reader hopefully will notice. Sorry about your software. Most people's adobe reader should be able to pick it up. However, the art is available on our site at www.blackwyrm.com for perusal.

Slightly OT, but if you don't want, for some reason, to download another version of Acrobat, there's a program out there called FoxIt Reader, which I've used to good effect...
Much smaller than Acrobat Reader (though probably lacking many bells and whistles that I haven't missed, yet), but it seems to read everything quite nicely, so far!
