Good Review

Awesome review. This book sounds like just what I've been looking for for the new campain I'm trying to get started.

I now hate you for making me want this book.

Thank you Rev, nicely written and organized. Good review.

Also I see you mentioning the old Fantasy 2e, so I hope you can take some time to answer my question:
How much text from the sections Feudal Society, Christianity and Islam (p. F11-34) made into Banestorm? Has it been expanded or reduced?

Thanks in advance.

Greatly expanded. Basically, the text from those sections was copied over into Banestorm (though organized differently -- IMO for the better) and then edited and expanded upon. Whole paragraphs are reproduced unaltered, while many sentences or points have been expounded upon, and there is a significant amount of rewritten and new material. I recommend checking out the table of contents on the product page to get an idea for yourself.

Hmm...nothing Oriental was devoured by the Banestorm and made it across to Yrth?

Yes there was. To the north of the Zarak Mountains there is Sahud, which contain people caught by the banestorm and transported from such Far Eastern countries as Japan and Korea. It seems to be pretty japanese in flavour. Check out the GURPS website which has downloadable maps of the place.

Thanks for the review. It is very informative and has convinced me to buy the product.

BH already pointed out Sahud, but I wanted to also mention that there are countless "enclaves" in Yrth where the Banestorm picked up people from an area not mentioned in my review and dropped 'em either somewhere remote or right in the middle of a nation, leading to an "island of African tribesmen" or a "small Inhuit community in the city of Hadaton", for example. Banestorm gives several examples of this, including a sizable Bali community in Araterre (the influence of the Hindu religion on Yrth from this group is covered in the Religion chapter), and then goes on to basically tell the GM to feel free to drop in such groups anywhere, since the Banestorm was certainly wiling to do the same.

Very broadly, yes.

(Actually - whisper it - the flavour which should be strongest in Sahudese games is that of whichever style of wuxia or anime fantasy the GM and players want to emulate.)

Thanks to Pee Kitty for the review, by the way.
