[RPG]: Tunnels & Trolls 30th Anniversary Edition, reviewed by CelticTony (3/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/11/11764.phtml

Anthony Roberson's Summary:

The 7th Edition of Tunnels & Trolls is a flawed, but interesting update on the second oldest fantasy RPG in existence.

Nostalia and Digests.

The classic 5th edition for many years was digest sized (I think earlier editions were too but I've not owned one so..)

I suspect nostalgia had a lot to do with the new version being digest sized.. However, it's worth noting when they expanded from digest to larger book with 5th edition that nothing new was added (that I recall) so a bigger format book does not mean you'd get more material. Just larger print and less cramped pages.

Alternative Rules

Personally, I thought the Death Spiral for monsters in T&T was excellent. It kept combats quick and dirty. If the PCs could land some punches quickly, the monster would go down before tearing them up. It gave T&T a video game appeal and let us tear through a dungeon in an evening.

I am interested in learning more about the secondary rules included in the tin.
Has anyone actually used the Alternative Rules in actual play?

The digest sized version was (I believe) only available in the UK.
