I see the cost is at around $25, which is in principle okay - but how many players does the game seat? I feel six would be nice. Four would be little.
Also, a short comment on sturdiness, packaging etc. would be appreciated.
What better basis for a non-collectible card game of unrepentant backstabbing than the setting of the Paranoia roleplaying game? (Answer: none. This game is so much fun, it must be traitorous.)

Very enthusiastic and evocative review, thanks.
The game seats up to eight, but I hear that gameplay gets clunky at the high end. I've played with six, which seemed to work just fine. The game seemed a little on the long side for the genre, but I may have missed the rule about "First to UV wins". We played until somebody ran out of clones.

The cards, tokens, and rulebook come in a box that seems pretty sturdy, as does the rulebook itself. (Of course, since you can print out the latter, that's not that big of a deal.)

My friends love the Groo card game because of how fortunes can change so quickly. It sounds like this game might take that to the next level.
Is this a game that really requires a group to play the way it was intended, or is it equally as fun with only 2 players?

D'oh... I probably should have mentioned this in the review, but the game really wouldn't work well with only two players. It'd be possible, I think, but you'd be missing out on a lot of fun elements, like cards allowing you to force two other players to immediately play cards on one another.

In fact, the rules state on the first page (as I'm looking at the PDF now) that it's a game for 3 - 8 players.
My question for you is does this game require that each player have a deck of cards or is the deck communal? I've seen some non-collectible card games that need individual decks.
It sounds like a lot of fun, but I'll never find 5 other people with Paranoia decks.

Precisely. It frustrates me that so many games don't allow for 2 players, especially when that size is so much easier to gather together than a group of 6 (especially if you live with the other player). As gamers enter the workforce and family life, they always complain about the inability to get a group together due to conflicting schedules and other real-life concerns. It would seem, then, that there's a huge market for 2-player games...or games that play equally well with only 2 players.
The Paranoia card game does sound awfully sweet, though.

It's complete in one set. That's why I was distinguishing it from HACK! in that regard.

Thanks, sorry I missed that point.
(Don't have HACK! though )
