If you're the type of person who likes clockwork daiklaves, crossbow wielding secret police, lightsabers, mecha, gun-arms, and other such blendings of fantasy, steam punk, and science fiction then you'll love this book.
Great review, Christopher! Based upon your observations, I'd have to agree that this supplement is underrated. It sounds like a wildly creative and fun setting.

Wow... Dan's right, this does sound amazingly fun. I've got the Solars book, but most of the other types of exalted don't interest me that much. I may have to make an exception for the Alchemicals, based on this...

Alchemicals never appealed to me. It took me a long amount of consideration before I finally broke down and bought the Dragonblooded book and I actually was interested in those guys. Your review makes me wonder if I shouldn't actually give Alchemicals a second thought, though. I'm interested in how well a game could be ran while flat-out ignoring the other exalted. I know you mentioned it was perfectly possible in your review, but how well does the book lend to this style of play? It seems like most of the scenarios are geared towards at least recognizing that other exalted are out there.

It is a product that embraces the whole Exalted cosmology. The secnario involving the Contagion spreading to Autochthon could be run without recognizing other Exalted me thinks if you wanted to paint Abysals and Deathlords as demons from beyond.
The three scenarios at the end of the book are really meant for epic Creation spanning crossovers with the Alchemicals and other stuff. However, the book could easily be used for all Autochthonian based campaigns. From political intrigue between the eight great cities to great quests to repair Autochthons far away systems to protecting the populace from a mad religious leader there are hundreds of adventures that can take place with just the core book and this one.
In summary, the book would work just fine if you want to tell the tales fo the Alchemicals without including other Exalted types but the scenarios in the back are generally geared to include a larger portion of the cosmology.

And to top it all off you get neat weapons to eviscerate your foes, or victims, like Void sabers. Yes void sabers glowing blades that extend out of handles like something out of a very popular George Lucas movie. Wow, how original.
... and there were many other similar comments made when EoS was "reviewed" (more like an autopsy performed by surgeons without hands!?!) here on rpg.net. anyways, i'm glad that Autochthonians (do people use their dice to name rpg products these days?) has also borrowed one of the cooler scifi institutions from the 20th century.

Darrick, you've done two things wrong here. Firstly, you're pimping your own product outside of the ads/promos forum. Secondly, you're pimping your product on a thread about the review of a completely different product. Seriously, knock it off, this is a warning.
Am I a bad person for thinking that Exalted: The Autochthonians sounds an awful lot like Paranoia minus the Kafka and Marx (Brothers)?
Are Alchemicals essentially laser cyber Troubleshooters sent on missions by their Regional God / Friend Autochthon?
Less flippantly, the Castes sound like condensed versions of the existing Exalted, without the jarring (IMO) discrepancies like Night caste solars. For example, Orichalcum caste Alchemicals sound like they're "essential" Solars. Is it fair to say the Alcemical castes are distilled versions of the other Exalted?
