And lo, by destroying the Sacred Symmetry of liking games Colin doesn't, and disliking games Colin does like, Conan shattered one of the Pillars of Reality, and ushered forth the damnation of the world!

From the review:
"NPCs' stats are listed with difficulty numbers rather than stats. (...) Oddly enough, when I first used this the game became remarkably frustrating and dull until I realised the full potential of such a mechanic."
My question: Why this difference? What changed in your perception and way of game mastering? Can you develop a little more on this?

The "Scores" are there to speed things up- you don't have to roll for the NPCs.

This is pretty much the reason. When you have a game going full bore - as I mentioned - it becomes easier to just handle the difficulties than rolling.
Initially this didn't work for me, but I realised a lot of that was to do with how the first group I played with were playing the game - i.e. they kept obsessing about mechanics.
My new group are a lot more interested in playing characters, so they fill up the game with more description - which, in turn, makes the system ideal for me to keep my attention on the players rather than the mechanics.

I just bought this game a week or so back and am hooked. I've owned all of the other Unisystem games, but Angel is the only one that has truly appealed to me on multiple levels. Lacking the 'cute' writing of Buffy and the ultra-specific subject matter of games like All Flesh Must Be Eaten, I can easily use this to run a number of different things other than Angel (in fact, I've already created a Hyrule fantasy plug-in and am currently working on a superhero plug-in). Good review, Conan.

Angel, or Angelus, was sired by Darla (maybe Darlav was a typo?).
and it didn't work out between Angel and Buffy because they found true love in each other. unfortunately, Angel's gypsy curse reverses and he loses his soul when he finds perfect happiness and ceases to suffer for all the terrible things he did when he was the soulless vampire Angelus. this meant that they couldn't be lovers, only friends which is why they went their seperate ways and fans got two shows for the price of one.
the couple proved that the age difference thing didn't really matter at all.
