Great job on the review, Swinebread -- thorough yet concise.

As to the origin of the apocalypse, though, I could have sworn that I read the background involved an alternate history in which post-WW2 America went ulta-isolationist and eventually fought WW3 against an alliance of jealous nations.

Wow. Great review. I do have one question--you said the lack of character creation examples in light of new, possibly confusing rules was a negative. Do you know if there are any good resources or extra support provided for this?

Thanks for the Kudos as this my first game review. You’re correct on the background Dave, but it doesn’t seem to be in the Darwin’s World 2 book, I’ll keep looking though. There is a quick and dirty timeline on the RPG Objects website: http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?...&article_id=17
I think this timeline was from the 1st edition and was probably left out of the 2nd edition for space considerations. The Foundationists and Children of the Metal Gods supplements both have really good timelines that flesh out the game world. Oh, and sorry about the typos, I read these things a million times before I post but I always seem to miss a few of them.

Yes, The yahoo groups for Darwin's World is excellent. You can ask the game designers questions about rules directly. Also RPG host has forum but I haven’t used it.

You're quite welcome. I didn't even notice that it was your first one, which says something in and of itself.

Ah, yes, that's it. I first heard it mentioned on RPGnet Open, but I knew I'd read the official version somewhere. And just skimming my own PDF copy, I don't see the history there, either.

It's always tough to proof your own work. That's why I usually draft some poor soul to proofread my reviews for me under the pretense of them getting a "sneak peak" at them.

Sorry about that Dan! Did I mention my capacity for typos? ...Oh, yes I did.

I'm strongly tempted to change it to "Dave," just to see if people will start calling me "Dan."
