Sounds like a potentially amusing game...

How do the game mechanics work?

And how do the barbarians manage to take on the lizards and their high-tech weaponry?

Howdy Dan...

The mechanics are painfully simple -- basically, you just roll as many D10s as you can, and add them up. So you stack your attribute + item bonus + other bonuses and so on, and roll. Beat a Target Number or your opponent's roll.

The alien weaponry can be pretty devastating, but the barbarians and their pure bloodlust see the aliens as just another potential prey/hunting trophy. Furthermore, barbarian superstition can be equally potent. A barbarian's Special Bloodstained Club (5) is just as deadly as a Efficient Non-Lizard Lazer Gun (5) or what have you.

I suppose my sly little play in the game is that the barbarians and the aliens are essentially the same -- the space lizards just have cool technology at their disposal, but they raid and plunder and loot just like the barbarians. In the end, the tools used are irrelevant -- it's all about the passion.

Thanks for the review, Matt.

Nathan Hill

This sounds like the kind of stupid, fun game that I always have time for, and must belong in my collection
