But are they balanced?

I am a big fan of Blue Moon and played countless games. I also kept track of the win/loss statistics of the different races. While most of the expansion races are balanced with the core game, the Flit seem not to be. They have a win:loss ratio of about 1:2 (most other races have *roughly* 1:1, except Khind which have 4:3 or sth.).

I've found them to be pretty well-balanced. I haven't kept detailed stats as you have, but I've never felt the Flit to be at a disadvantage.

They are, however, one of the trickier decks to play (along with the Mimix). They require a very different Zen from any of the other decks, more finesse. I think the Flit were a great choice for the first expansion deck, butcause they really show off the versatility of the system - they are so totally different from the decks included in the base set, and yet seem pertty well-balanced against them.

Re: But are they balanced?

My general experience is that Reiner Knizia is a superb designer and his games are well playtested, and so I have almost total faith that the different decks are balanced.

My specific experience is that the Flit won both of the games I played in prep for writing this review, and they absolutely killed the Hoax in the last game played, almost winning outright by pulling over a fourth dragon. I've played the Flit before, but that was last year so I don't remember the numbers. But going from my recent anecdotal evidence, the Flit are 2:0.

Overall I think the Flit are quite a strong deck, but you have to play them carefully, just like Chris said. As noted in my review, they don't have raw strength of Character. You have to time them more carefully, knowing when to play Boosters, and with what Characters.

We've have about 30 games recorded (however, only "pure decks", with all the peoples placed back in their proper decks). The Flit come out balanced with a win:loss of 6:5. Wins recorded against the Aqua (2), Khind (1), Mimix (1) and Pillar (2). Losses to the Aqua, Hoax, Mimix, Terra and Vulca (1 each).

We played Flit vs. Mimix today and it was one of the best Blue Moon match ups we've seen. Took four hands to resolve, very tense.
