My game gangs in Seattle ( http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/...guid=140900971 } is planning to run a test-shot of Pokethulhu in a few weeks on our Monday night one-shots. I'll be running it 'cause I've been waiting to try it for years and I was toying with adding touches of color to the land of Pokethulhu map. Here's the result it was fun.
Pokethulhu is a great little game combinging ideas from Call of Cthulhu with Pokemon. Published (free PDF) by Cumberland Games. (just google it) It is expertly illustrated by John Kovac.
Fun stuff, I'll keep folks updated on my adventure and how it went if there's interest...
A while back when I was prepping for a pokethulhu game I drew a whole bunch of 'thulhus. You're welcome to use them if they catch your fancy. In retrospect I think I went a far too heavy on the "poké" and a bit too light on the "thulhu", but still...
I had the idea of printing them out onto cards that held their basic info (aspects, weakness, attacks). I'd deal a thulhu off the top of the deck for random encounters, and cultists who captured a thulhu just got handed the card. Never got to that stage though unfortunately.

Those pictures are perfect! Awesome job!

Please keep us updated, aye. I"d love to play or run this sometime with my group--thing is, those of us that know Pokemon pretty well don't know much more than the basic concepts of the mythos, myself included. Basically, I'm curious to find out how much knowledge versus winging it is used--the game is beautifully, wonderfully free, but leaves a lot to be fleshed out and added on consequently.

ummm.... WOW!!!
Those are GREAT.
I will totally use them. I had thought about doing the card thing. If you don't mind I'll use your images maybe build some cards. If I get them done right I'll post them for anyone to use.
I'm going to be making a POKETHULHU wiki so that anyone can use these ideas. Expect to see that starting up in the next week.
In the meantime do you have stats or info on those drawings?
I can do it, but it'd be really helpful if you've already got it.
Anyone else have thoughts on Pokethulhu?
Once I get the resources rolling I may try to contact the writers and producers to show them the work we've all compiled.
Abranubis spends all of its time sleeping, projecting its consciousness into arcane netherealms that would turn a mortal mind into instant ramen. Even in their sleep they are capable of defending themselves with a number of strong attacks.
These thulhus are easily lured by killing a relative or small animal and burying it inside a stone pyramid. Overnight, one or more Abranubis are certain to materialise around it to torment the soul of the deceased.
**********************************
KADABRANUBIS
Ancient egyptian death god type
Devolves to Anubizam
If Abranubis' consciousness can be persuaded to return to its body it devolves into the powerful Kadabranubis.
In episode #117 "sand, sand everywhere" a Kadabranubis helped Sonia and Titus Rescue Randy's soul from the nether-hell it had been sent to by Derleth and Bloch. The meddlesome pair (Derleth and Bloch that is) later got a taste of their own medicine when Kadabranubis gave them a prophetic vision of their eventual grisly deaths.
Anubizam is the fully devolved form of Abranubis, and it is written in the Egyptian book of the dead that only one can exist at a time. To devolve into Anubizam, a Kadabranubis must destroy the existing Abubizam in a 'thulhu battle and absorb its powers.
The current Anubizam is controlled by the leader of the scarab gym, Ian Hotep, who Randy defeated in episode #118 "scarabs getting under my skin" to win his scarab badge.
Collageen's soft squishy lips mean that it has trouble cracking bones to get at the tasty bone marrow. Instead it pouts at nearby wild thulhu to try and get them to do it.
Dark priest maple believes Collageen to be a form of Dagong genetically altered by the legendary Dr Harold Westermore. Our heroes prove him right in episode #97 "Cherry lips and golden pearls"
Lickollageen is a reluctant battler, preferring to pose and pluck insects out of the air with its long sticky tongue.
Dr Harold Westermore artificially devolved his Collageen to be a jigglier lab assistant in th opening sequence of the second Pokethulhu movie "Bride of machostein".
**********************************
CHARTHUGHA
Cold fires of creation type
Devolves to Cthughazard
Injure - Burning nuclear gaze (luminescent)
Dodge - Flutter like fallout (luminescent)
Trap - Ring of fire (luminescent)
Frighten - Burning truth (non-euclidean)
This thulhu was the centre of attention in epsiode #49 "A distant star is born".
**********************************
GRIMAPOLYP
Blissfully ignorant type
Devolves to Mulchoth
Aspects - Non-euclidean, fungous
Weakness - Icy
Injure - Pseudopod (non-euclidean)
Dodge - Not being there (non-euclidean)
Trap - Sudden grabbing (non-euclidean)
Frighten - Bad smell (fungous)
Trainers will go almost any lengths to stop their Grimapolyp devolving because it's just so darn cute in its original state. Fortunatly this is easily accomplished keeping it away from mirrors. Grimapolyp are popular household pets as they can be trained to live off of rotting beech wood instead of human bone marrow.
Grimapolyp is entirely unaware of the mushrooms growing on its head and will become violent if the point is pressed, as Team Eibon discovered in the first OAV series.
**********************************
MULCHOTH
Painfully aware of mushrooms on head type
Aspects - Non-euclidean, fungous
Weakness - Icy
Injure - Many pseudopods (non-euclidean)
Dodge - Trying to shake the mushrooms off (fungous)
Trap - Sitting on (non-euclidean)
Frighten - Awful smell (fungous)
If Grimapolyp ever sees its reflection and sees the mushrooms on its head it panics and devolves into the larger Mulchoth. Mulchoth make poor battling 'thulhu since they're so concerned with getting rid of the mushrooms.
Randy, Sonia and Titus tried to help a Mulchoth in its quest in episode #30 "My heart can't go on" before the overpowerring smell caused them to pass out.
Gugsaur is a textbook example of a squamous thulhu and in fact is so squamous that some trainers fail to realise that it is also decomposing.
In episode #68 "madness under the mountains" our herous discovered that just because all the Gugosaurs are dead doesn't mean they're extinct! Just before the closing credits Titus caught one with a deftly thrown shining dodecahedron and since then Gugosaur has been a fan favourite for the adorable way it tries to sever its trainer's limbs.
Some of the other illustrations were based on the thulhus from the official pokenomicon. And I've some higher res versions of the pics if you want.
I also came up with some alternate dodecohedrons to go along with the standard shining variety. The idea was that these special dodecahedrons could only trap thulhu of one specific aspect, but would give you a bonus when doing so. I thought that the odd special dodecahedoron would be good loot or prizes for the cultists.
EDIT
Let's try this google pages thingy out. Here you go. That's a 3 meg zip file containing most of the thulhu stuff from my hard disc, including random scraps. Most of it's WiP or just plain crap, so use at your own risk.
I've always wanted to run a game of Pokethulhu, but never found a bunch of people interested.
Until then I'm just enjoying churning out some stats and episode outlines.
Plot: Musktratonic University's football team and cheerleading team have had a major falling out. The Professors have asked the Cultist's help to get them back under control before the Team's Matchug (Four Armed Zombie Type) and the Cheerleader's Abra-Nacha (Psychic Spider type) tear the university to bits!
Plot: The Chthonix (see rulebook) have left their lairs around the ancient city of G'dharn, to travel to their ancient breeding grounds to the south to perform their centenial disturbic endoterrestrial mating rites. Unfortunatly for all parties concerned, since their last migration, the Shudde Mall has been built in their tunnels. Can the Cultists stop oncomming horrors before it's too late?

WOW AGAIN! very very cool my friend. I may toy with some of these too if that's cool. I really like what you've done!
Though I'm not sure that zip had all the images from the files you posted earlier. I have them at home to look at so I'll compare later tonight.
Thanks for posting your ideas on the stats too.
I'll let you know (here) what I've updated and created in the next couple weeks.
anything else you wanna share?

Well feel free to keep posting your notes and ideas here. I'll be collecting lots of them into a wiki soon. then one day when you DO have interested people you can use all the info.
