Excellent review. I'm always to see more discussion of small-press stuff.
I've just cruised over to their site, and I like the art in their sampler. It's kinda got a Berni Wrightson vibe going on.

I can only do reviews of small (as in, not many pages) RPGs, since I rarely read all the way through a full-sized book quickly enough to get in before the other 20-30 reviewers
Hollow Earth Expedition may change my mind though...
As to the art... well, it's not to my taste, but it is suitable to the theme.

Wulf -- Thanks SO much for your capsule review.
I really appreciate the honest feedback.
FYI, you hit the nail on the head w/r/t the Tension rules. I wrote them specifically to mechanize GM fudging.
Since all the numbers in the game are fixed (no modifiers), and die rolls are completely open, there's zero opportunity for GMs to manipulate the story if the PCs band together (especially in larger groups), pool their Survival Points, and wreack havoc on poor isolated Creatures. Now, I personally don't have any problem with this. If players work together, they certainly should have an edge. But most GMs in traditional RPGs are used to having a little more control over the game environment, a little bit more secrecy regarding their plans and in-game possibilities, and a little more muscle than the PCs.
Tension mechanics provide all that with minimal complexity.

Actually, I have no problem about this idea - but the group I play in does, thus I tried to be fair with the review and point out what could be a problem to some (likewise they won't use Social Comabt in Exalted 2ed, they just talk about it, and they just don't use Hero Points/Drama Dice in games that have them).
Nice book though. But I don't like that fancy font.
