First, good review.

Covered all the bases, and gave a reasonably fair assessment of most of it... except that I disagree with you on the Sleepers being the weakest chapter. It's certainly the one I'd be most inclined to actually use on players. Maybe that's just the games I'm playing.

I think it's a great concept and i'm glad it's in the product. I don't doubt that it will resonate strongly with many players.

Thanks for the compliment!

Great review and it actually makes me want to go out and buy it. Of course, I own neither the WoD core nor VtR, because I don't like either. Damn WW, why did they have to make the core books (And the system) so bland and the supplements so awesome!!!

Thanks, Lord Minx! Between VII and Requiem Chronicler's Guide I think I can find something that appeals to everyone I play with now VII makes it a lot easier for me to pitch games to folk who want to kill vampires and generally be good guys (with a bit of torment on the side).

VII is a great product and this was a great review. I'm glad to see more WW products getting reviewed lately. There was a dry spell for a while.

Re: the blandness of the core...

As a rulebook used for actual PLAY, the core is a great book and has a good layout for reference. The core is also playable without anything else, unlike nMage (IMO). 2 years ago, V:tR core was released with glowing reviews and enthusiasm at this forum because it is a great rulebook. While it may be bland, it is exciting to read if you think about the possibilities of it as a game. The PDF which has searchable text is invaluable for tabletop games if you're a GM/ST who uses a laptop for his/her screen. However, if you're someone who believes that everything should be in a single book (and there are those who exist), then the nWoD is not for you. Personally, I respect that it has taken 2 years to fill out the V:tR setting via supplements. As a player, I like that a covenant-specific book allows me to create a very rich background for my character; as a ST, the many supplements give me near-unlimited plot hooks and story arcs. I'm very excited by the upcoming Clan books.
