[Board/Tactical Game]: Lord of the Rings - the Confrontation: Deluxe Edition, reviewed by Tom Vasel (4/5)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12543.phtml

Tom Vasel's Summary:

Games are short and tense; and when you win, it’s because you played better! It retains the feel of the Lord of the Rings universe, while introducing a clever combat system used in many other games – such as Game of Thrones. Some might categorize it as “Lord of the Rings Stratego”, but that is oversimplifying this elegant game; it’s deeper and more interesting than that older, classic game. Even folks who aren’t fans of Tolkein may enjoy this game – one of the best two player games I’ve ever played.

Sauron player gets three characters into Mordor (in which case he wins)

Um ... doesn't he start out with four there? Do you mean, three characters into the Shire?

yes, he means 3 sauron characters into the shire.

I love this game, we play it frequently in the office. In the standard game it is just a bit harder to win as white, but its more rewarding when you do!

The deluxe edition is cool, I'm frustrated that they made the characters so large and tall. They tip over easilly and the cardboard falls out. So I scanned in the deluxe edition and formatted to fit the old edition. Then put all the new stuff into a spare old set.
