[Board/Tactical Game]: Jungle Speed, reviewed by Tom Vasel (3/3)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12559.phtml

Tom Vasel's Summary:

It still hasn’t beaten out Halli Galli as a favorite, but that’s probably just because it’s new – the kids seem to have a complete blast when playing it. Sometimes we just seek simplicity in a game and a large dosage of fun. Jungle Speed is enough to drive a mild mannered player nuts but can be fun in large groups (the game goes up to eight players) and certainly makes for a good icebreaker game. I won’t be playing it too often, but I’ll certainly bring it out when the situation calls for it and when kids are around – that situation will often occur.

Just to back up the reviewers opinions of its utility for youth groups and teenagers, my girlfriend is a high school teacher, and she plays games with her home room class. They have literally worn out the game over the course of an academic year they love it so much.

I don't know about youth, but it's definitely gone down v well with my late-20s circle. It is the go-to icebreaker game-I've had great times with it playing with strangers when we shared no common language (someone is needed to explain the rules, of course) on multiple occasions.

I would say that the confusability of the arrows-in/arrows-out card is a feature, not a bug, as it mirrors the other confusable cards in the game.

Nice review!
