[Board/Tactical Game]: Thurn and Taxis, reviewed by Oni no Won (4/5)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12552.phtml

Oni no Won's Summary:

A Euro-type boardgame that can be played in about an hour. It has a historical reference in which you are following in the footsteps of the family that started the first postal service in Europe. A very engaging boardgame in which adaptation, efficiency, and optimization plays an important part in obtaining victory over your competition.

The problem with Thurn and Taxis is that the best strategy is to simply complete your routes as fast as possible. Here's a tip: Draw 2 play 1 for the first three turns, Draw 1 play 2 for the next two, draw 2 play 1 for two turns, Draw 1, play one and use the cartwright, then either a draw 2, play 1 and a draw one play 2 or the reverse followed by another cartwright. Then you finish it off with some combination of one draw 1, play 2, one(or two) draw 2, play 1, one (or zero) adminstration, and ending with a draw 1, play 1, cartwright.

With the last cart being worth 10 points, which is more than a third of most players ending totals, not getting will cost you the game.
