Legendary Vapourware

OK, I have just come across the term "vapourware" (US:vaporware) and it appealled. What are the legendary pieces of RPG vaporware, taht we might have really enjoyed seeing?

I was thinking T1 The village of Hommlet successor module T2 The temple of Elemental Evil, but I believe that was eventually released, though I never saw a copy. HeroQuest was promised a long while, but after what, 19 years, finally appeared.

Any great lost games??

Re: Legendary Vapourware

Temple of Elemental Evil definately was out (and recently updated to 3.x, I believe.)
Dune d20 springs to mind as vaporware.

Great. Now I'm picturing Nathan Fillion in a blue polo shirt with a scarf and white bell-bottoms yelling at a monkey. Thanks.-Tom B. for the win.

Cthulhutech, although there are mutterings about Mongoose publishing it.
Also, Pulp Cthulhu, which I've given up hope of seeing...I might pre-order if for my children's children's children though.

The Darklings supplement for 1st Edition Beyond the Supernatural. The manuscript was never turned in by the author.

Re: Legendary Vapourware

Mechanoids Space from Palladium is practically legendary (promised but never delivered, off and on, for a decade or more).

Numerous other Palladium products that were advertised before they were written and were later deemed unsuitable by editor-in-chief Kevin Siembieda.

Holistic Design's SathraNet and War in the Heavens 3 have also achieved this status.

I'm sure others will think of more.

I think my original Cults of Chaos (for RuneQuest) had a blurb in the back about HeroQuest.

That was probably published in the late 70s? early 80s? And just now rules are coming out for heroquesting in RQ.

DPG used to advertise some new sci-fi game in their Traveler mags -- "A.I.", maybe? And IIRC, Mark Reign•Hagen had a sci-fi game in the works around the time he left White Wolf.

It was called Exile, and two drafts of the corebook are on the net:
