[RPG]: Bloodlines: The Legendary, reviewed by C.W.Richeson (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12594.phtml

Christopher W. Richeson's Summary:

Bloodlines: The Legendary delivers the sort of fascinating Bloodlines one would expect Kindred to whisper about in the dark.

By far the most positive opinion I've seen of this book. Thank you for that.

In your review, you said:

"The World of Darkness has a surprising number of vampires, werewolves, and others derived from ancient Japan, so when I was confronted with another group of Japanese vampires I was at first turned off. However, the Kuufukuki are very well done."

I've been doing a review of the Asian nWoD and have noticed only the following Japanese character types:

Burakumin (VtM Japanese bloodline in the VtM core)
Amanot Sukai (VtM Japanese faction from Circle of the Crone)
Lodge of Hungry Ghosts (WtF Lodge from 'Splintered')

Along with Kuufukuji, that isn't that many.

Are there any others I am missing?

There's also the Lodge of the Endless Moon (in Splintered).

Lodges: the Splintered actually has 2 Japan-originating Lodges:

- the Lodge of Hungry Ghosts
(as you mentioned)

- the Lodge of Endless Moon

But nothing else specifically Japanese in the nWoD springs to mind.

P.S. It's a good book, Wood, don't you worry. Liked the Melissidae (those were yours, right?) quite a bit.

EDIT: Damn you, Christian!

I guess every clan/bloodline has to have its own unique powers now ?

I miss the days before clan disciplines, though, admittedly, those days didn't last very long :-)

Nope! Two Bloodlines lack special Disciplines - one has a slight modification to Animalism while the other just gives access to another standard Discipline.

I kinda like narrow Disciplines that speak to the flavor of a Bloodline, especially in optional products.

A lot of people did. In fact, I haven't heard a word against them, which, given that it was my first published work for White Wolf, was quite encouraging. still, that didn't help my esteemed colleagues, many of whose bloodlines got (IMV unfairly, but I would say that) slammed by a lot of people.
