While you note that you write the game as well at the outset and confine yourself to describing it rather than indulging in OTT praise, which is all fair enough, I must admit that I hope that the idea of author-written reviews doesn't take off...

Actually, author-reviews have been around for quite a while now. While they have to be taken with a grain of salt, obviously, they can often be the only way the gaming community hears about a new independent game. And it's much better than the alternative of sock-puppet or shill reviews.

Think of them less as "reviews" and more as "designers notes".
