Best free games for specific genres?

Hiya-

The recent FASERIP threads (and the fact that MSH is, in fact, free) started me thinking... what would you suggest for the following genres? I've included some choices that have caught my interest... I'd like to try to exclude 'all-encompassing' titles like WuShu, though I understand it's a great system for some folks. Looking forward to hearing suggestions!

(I dunno, perhaps this can become a sticky at some point, as a resource for folks looking for free games?)

Comedy/Cartoon (Toon, Cartoon Action Hour, etc.)?
... no idea

Cyberpunk?
... no idea

Fantasy, High?
8-bit Dungeon (lighthearted)
Basic RPG
OSRIC

Fantasy, Low/Sword & Sorcery?
Barbarians of Lemuria

Fighting (ala Street Fighter)?
Final Stand
Thrash

Giant Robots (including the pilots)?
MechaORE

Horror/Supernatural Adventure/Modern Occult?
Nemesis ORE
Witchcraft (Unisystem)

Modern/Cinematic (incl. espionage, action, drama, mystery, military)?
Chalk Outlines

Mythical Takes on Real-World Settings/Historical (such as Japan, China, Russia, Greece, etc.)?
Ancient Mediterranean- Warlords of Alexander, Zenobia
Ancient Greece- Mazes & Minotaurs

Post-Apocolyptic (a la Gamma World or Aftermath)?
... no idea

Pulp/WW2 era?
... no idea

Sci-Fi (including space opera & hard sci-fi)?
Star Frontiers (recently remastered by our own CleanCutRogue!)
StarORE (Star Wars using the ORE system)

Supers?
FASERIP (aka Marvel Super Heroes)
Power Game
Four Colors

Swashbucking (such as 7th Sea, or Flashing Blades)?
... no idea.

Western (including 'weird west')?
... no idea

Misc.?
Nicotine Girls

For Mythical Ancient Mediterranean, you just can't beat Warlords of Alexander and Zenobia, both available at http://balbinus.com.

For modern occult (not listed above) C.J. Carella's Witchcraft is a free download.

Heh, I have Witchcraft listed, just not under that genre... good choice though, I'll separate it out.

I'll add your suggestions, thanks!

Re: Best free games for specific genres?

Powergame and Four Colors are both worth a look for supers.

Chalk Outlines is great for crime/caper stuff.

Eight Bit Dungeon for light-hearted dungeon crawling.

Nicotine Girls...well, whatever its genre is, it's the best at it.

Re: Best free games for specific genres?

If I have to go with specific settings then I would choose anything in the JAGS line. I have only looked at a few of their items but if I can's use Fudge or Fate I'll go with a JAGS setting like Wonderland or Have-Not.

Mazes & Minotaurs for the semi-historical take on fantasy?

Basic Fantasy RPG for high fantasy?

Martial Arts is covered by 'fighting' (figured I'd use a term a bit wider in scope). Swashbuckling is a good idea... but what do you mean by 'cinematic'? Like modern action heroes, that kind of thing?
