[RPG]: Supers Week - Legends Walk!: T&J Edition, reviewed by Mechante_Anemone (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12959.phtml

Sophie Lagacé's Summary:

<i>Legend Walks! - T&J Edition</i> makes a great supplement for <i>Truth & Justice </i>, whether as a resource for players characters imbued by the gods or as a campaign setting sourcebook.

This is a fantastic review, Sophie, thanks! It's easy to read and one of the most informative actual plays I've read - stating all the characters really helps.

You should definitely write some more

Coming from you, that's quite a compliment! I was worried about the actual play notes, with the feeling I wasn't giving enough useful info. Stats: PDQ-based games have such easy stats, they pack nicely. I guess that illustrates how they make the GM's life simpler.

I was glad of the "Supers Week" theme, it gave me the push I needed to finish these reviews. Now if we can have Occult & Conspiracy Week, Fairytales Week, Horror Week, Noir Week, etc., I can finish a few more that have been languishing...

I looked into your Top Ten campaign site. Very cool stuff. I think the line that pushed it over the top for me was this sentence I glimpsed as I scanned through the character entry for dead "been to hell and back" cop Johnny Mortis:

"The Chicago PD kept his existence quiet; people weren't ready for a dead cop (despite Chicago's very progressive non-living voting rights position)."

Priceless.

That is so Top Ten.

Glad you liked it! I took time to write a few more episode summaries today, though I'm not fully caught up. It's amazing how much stuff gets packed into even short episodes. (All the good stuff is player-generated, including the "non-living voting rights" quote.)

I thought I'd post an addendum note to my review, as two more pantheons have been released since: the Chinese and Celtic pantheons. At $3.95 each for the PDF files1 for 38 and 28 pages respectively, they're eminently affordable and the material is as rich and interesting -- or more! -- as any of the pantheons in the main book. I'm really excited by the quality of the material and with the role-playing and story possibilities, particularly when I think of exploring different historical periods.

1 Or half price for those who had bought the previous edition based on the LODE system, contact Tim for a rebate coupon.
