An admirable attempt to cover everything you ever wanted to know about Secret Societies in Alpha Complex but were always afraid to ask.

Thanks for the review of The Traitor's Manual, Neil! In case you haven't seen any of the other dozen-plus PARANOIA books Mongoose released in the two years following this first supplement in the line, later books replace the Signs & Portents ad on the inside front cover with either a PARANOIA line house ad or with useful tables and content specific to the book.

The "Elective Activities & Pursuits Clubs" chapter omitted from this book eventually saw print in the Extreme PARANOIA rules supplement, which gives rules for creating and playing characters of all security clearances from ORANGE through VIOLET. Gareth Hanrahan, who wrote Traitor's Manual, contributed sections to Extreme PARANOIA about secret society activity at higher clearances. These sections address, to some extent, the lack you felt in Traitor's Manual about inducements for players to advance in their societies.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the several pages of handouts that were corrupted due to an InDesign font compatibility error. (Hey, it was one of the first books I laid out, okay?) The corrected versions of these pages are also available as free .PDF downloads on the Mongoose site.

I thought that was on purpose. I was trying to fathom out the joke
