[RPG]: Blood & Lust, reviewed by Jorgeman (3/3)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/13/13009.phtml

J.Vallejo's Summary:

The high points of this book are the gamemastering tips from G. Stafford and the long adventures that focus on different themes (love, customs, Morgana's deceits...).

I don't envy you! Writing in my own language is hard enough, writing a review in a second language is certainly beyond anything I would be willing to attempt. With that all in mind, I think your review is a marvel - succinct and descriptive.

The one thing I would suggest is that in your next review you explain a little more about what you liked/disliked, and why you liked/disliked it.

I would be interested to know a little more about why you rated Blood and Lust a 3/3 for example.

I am probably biased because I personally rate this as one of the best adventure supplements going around. Certainly I think the "Adventure of the Heart Blade" is one of the finest adventures ever written. I read it again a few months ago to see if the memory of its brilliance stood up after 10 years - and it still bought tears to my eyes. On the basis of that single adventure (and it should be noted that it is a long one and takes up a significant portion of the book) I would be tempted to kick the scores up a notch.

I agree that I'm impressed you've made the effort to do this review, even in a non native language. I did wish you had put more detail into the review though. Perhaps separated from the factual layout, you could have put your impressions why you liked it, and so on. I also would have hoped to have a little more detail of what the adventures actually contained. This is a review of a series of adventures after all, it seems likely that such a thing would have spoilers!

I also liked the adventure of the heartblade, and I thought the other adventures were good value.

However, I hated the adventure with Morgana to such a degree that I have been tempted to rip it out of the book several times.

You're right. I was too careful avoiding to spoil anything. Now I think different; prospective players should avoid adventures reviews and prospective GMs could make good use of spoiler to decide if the adventures fit his game table.

I'd probably adhere to it in future reviews.

Thank you for your comments.

My 3/3 rate was so partly because I tend to rate low. On the other hand, should I had written the review in the nineties, I'd gave Style a 4, because I like a lot the neatness on writing and art. But the nowadays glossy and fanciful books made me rate that low, I think.

About the 3 in Substance, it was because only half the book really interested me. I could have survived without the other half.

Not one of the best Pendragon books, but I don't regret buying it.
