I'm sure it doesn't. The rules and FAQ for SoC are both very clear that your current victory points are the ones everyone can add up themselves, and you do NOT have to reveal your hidden cards until you feel like it. So even if you're pretty sure someone's holding 4 VP cards in their hand, you can only count the victory points showing (1x settlement + 2x city + Longest Army and/or Road + any VP cards they were foolish enough to play before the end of the game for some reason).

You don't get any VP for holding a VP card. However, you can play any number of those cards at any time. In other words, if you have 6 VP on the board and 2 VP cards, you don't have 8 VP, or 2 'hidden' VP, you just have, straight, 6 VP.

Ah, okay. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Beri and everyone else.
My family loves our holiday 5-6 player Catan games.
So this looks like a definite purchase.
