[RPG]: [Horror Week] Nightbane, reviewed by Joe Sala (3/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/13/13324.phtml

Joe Sala's Summary:

Supernatural creatures, horrid conspiracies and even a mirror world in which is possibly the best Palladium game.

Thanks for mentioning Shadows of Light! It's become the redheaded stepchild of Nightbane, thanks to poor support and next to no advertising. You'd be surprised how many people don't even know it exists.

Sure, it's not my best work by any stretch, but it's nice to see it included .

In fact I never managed to get a copy, so I can't say anything else about it.

I totally agree! Palladium gives me hives, never run the system, but I do have a couple of their books that really stood out and Nightbane is one of them. Reminds me a lot of the animes "Wicked City," "Daqrkside Blues," and "Demon City Shinjuku" (or, more recently, the Russian films Nightwatch and Daywatch).

It's gotten mixed reviews and aside from not being written as tightly as it could've been (largely because it is essentially an edited rough draft) is not helped by huge editing problems and a failure of the company to post the errata (like omitted XP tables). But it's OOP, now, so it's all moot.

I am not sure if Fading Suns is in the same category/genre as Nightbane and Vampire.
