[RPG]: [Horror Week] Blood Games II, reviewed by Tommy Brownell (3/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/13/13393.phtml

Tommy Brownell's Summary:

Blood Games II does an impressive job of trying to be a fully functional, self-contained RPG. There's just not enough here to convince you to change your default game system.

Hi Tommy!

Thanks for an excellent review! It was quite in-depth, and without factual errors. Very, very good job!

I do think you gave a bit too much emphasis to the “everyone’s the same age” thing. It's really a minor bit of game advice, to make it easier for the GM, not in any way a rule. I have personally run very diverse PC groups with no trouble. Balance is actually seldom an issue with a mixed age group. Nor is balance a big issue with different levels of power, as there is seldom enough overlap in what the PCs do to matter. I personally don't worry about such things when running the game.

Also, an "adventure" is not necessarily a single session. It could be several - or many - connected sessions. This is, apparently, a common misunderstanding, so the fault lies in the way I presented the concept. Next time I revise the text, I will be sure to emphasize this!

Clash,

The things you mentioned are precisely why I wish I had had the time to play the game, and not just read it. Similarly, I don't know why my mind didn't hit on differing ages as being the same thing as different power levels (normal humans and half-angels, for instance).

Similarly, I didn't mean to imply that an adventure was a single session, just that a each adventure represented a single year.

Thank you for the opportunity to review your game...I'm glad you feel I did it justice!
