Hyboria+Mushroom Kingdom=IT WON'T GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

Sigh.

Don't ask me why. I know it's ridiculous. I know it's a stupid plan. I know I couldn't get my players to play it, or play it right, or even for me to run it right.

But...

It crept back into my head again. Super Mario Brothers done at 11 through the "epic" lens. A world where humans are a short race. A world where you're sucked into a place that's Wonderland through the eyes of Conan. A place where a warhammer is the common melee weapon. A place where a gorilla, a plumber, and a mushroom-man sorceror is a common party, fighting off ten foot tall lizard men in large bulky armor, or sky gods, or terrible things living in secret caverns deep in the earth. a game where a standard weapon is something that covers you in flame and allows you to shoot napalm from your hands (screw that "spitball"), and that if you're lucky, you can kill ANYTHING for ten seconds.

Like a plane made entirely of wood. Like a bridge crossing the channel. Like an emperor of San Franciso...it would be so beautiful...

It's no stranger than an idea I had for a game. Take all of the worlds from the Mario games (Mushroom Kingdom, Dinosaur Land, Sarasaland, etc.) and link them all through Star Road, Dark Tower style.

It's what I get for reading the Dark Tower books and playing Paper Mario during the same space in time...

Wow, that sounds like someone took 'World of Synnibar' and made it awesome.

I'd play that.

If we take bodily destruction out of the equation, vampires are screwed. By default, I can't think of any tricks they have that would impact the Geist. That means after you put down the Sin-Eater he *will* be getting up again. If he was a moral sort, he's now insanely pissed you caused him to kill an innocent person. This is the point in which he turns into a giant truck/man hybrid with a jackhammer penis and proceeds to quite literally fuck your skull off.-Boogaleeboo

Normally I wouldn't say this but you should totally use Exalted for this.

What you don't listen to is the loud internet commentary. The loudest voice is probably not the one you listen to. You listen to the person who put a lot of thought into it, who went out of their way to provide feedback. - Dr. Greg Zeschuk

She asked me, "Do I believe in equality for gay and lesbian people?" I was pretty surprised to be asked a question like that. It made no sense to me. Finally, I asked her, "What do you think I voted for at Omaha Beach?"- Phillip Spooner

Would Koopa be Tsattoghua? Or would he and his lot be serpent people and worship Set?

And the mushroom people, how about Lovecraft's Elder Things?

Full of win.

We need to figure out a system for this, and a way to not force every group of PCs to have an Italian plumber in them. Hey -- I said force, mind you. I just don't want my gaming group to think someone has to be Mario or Luigi.

So, er...I'm thinking Spirit of the Century, maybe?

90% of all interpersonal conflicts stem from the need to get the last word in. I swear by this. Every problem I've ever had in TO has stemmed from my need to make some kind of point in the face of an audience who doesn't care what I have to say, and me trying to get that last word in. -- Eric Brennan

Never played SotC, and have no idea what the system is.

Finding a system for it is the main obstacle I have for starting the game...
