This is probably a more enjoyable game to play than to just read and place on a shelf, as a lot of the information is presented with adventure in mind and details that are enjoyable to read, but not necessarily to game, are left off. So, if you buy just to read, this may not be the best choice for you.
Can you give an example of what you mean by this? What sort of details are "left off"?

I don't want to put words in the mouth of the reviewer, but as the creator, I believe what he is referring to is the fact that their isn't tons of fluff in the book. We don't go in over detail about the land and the inhabitants, no lists upon lists of npc's, etc. We really geared this to be as open and as playable as possible, without it coming across as a novel of a setting. If that makes sense?

And thanks for the great review. We are actually working on a D20 version of the game to be released soon, which will have more playable races, more classes, new magic, tons of new equipment, and a large bestiary. I'm very happy with how that is going and expect to start having previews up soon.

That's great news! The setting really intrigues me, but the added price of "buying into" the Iron Gauntlets system is a deterrent. Do you have an estimate of when you expect to publish the d20 version, or is it too soon to say?

We are planning for January for the book to be out. A lot of the material was written before the 4th edition announcement and we took some time off to think about what we wanted to do and decided to go ahead.

The d20 version will have a lot of new material in it that I'm excited about, so hopefully it will be as well received as the IG version has been.

Rick's got the right of it. The material here is written with roleplaying in mind, which means there are no detailed histories. Instead, you'll find a lot of plot hooks and concise explanations.

I'm not saying detailed histories are bad - I love them, too. Just that this product feels like it was built to bring fun to the table, and not so much to present a highly detailed setting.
