Amidst the muck and toilet humor there lies a real gem of roleplaying with wonderful art, a light-hearted spirit, and an unerring sense of childish fun.

This review's one of the worst piece of sh@$ that I've ever seen. I'm green with envy (and stomach cramps) of Kando's funny summary of Low Life (LL) and recommend it be flushed immediately down the toilet
On a slightly more serious note, excellent review. I still don't plan to purchase LL but I look forward to seeing more of your top-notched writing in the future.

Rarely has a review of a product convinced me that I needed a game so badly. Great review, of what sounds to be a great product. It proved it to me so well, that i've already ordered the product. Jesus, I'm impulsive and dumb sometimes.

Seconded. This really is a great setting. I can't remember a time when reading a book (ANY book, not just an RPG book) that I've laughed out loud so many times. Don't let the juvenile humor put you off as it almost did me. I thought who needs a game that's a joke? Well, it turns out my group LOVED the setting.
Funny? Hell yeah. But oh so much more. It is rather quite clever; in fact, the humor is pretty high brow with a low brow facade (if THAT makes any sense!). Highly recommended if you are a person who enjoys having fun.

Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed the review.

Low Life is a great product. Our group had a ball with it.
Here's the website we cobbled together. It's bits and pieces really, but shows some of the craziness that went on.

Indeed, there is a wonderful range of humor in the book. Its one of a select few RPG purchases that I have never had the slightest regret about buying, or disappointment about playing.

It was right there in your caveats, but I still seriously have to ask.
Would this game run OK with Explorer Edition?
Because except for the fact that the recommended core rules for this product are essentially out-of-print -- and the replacement rules are TEN DOLLARS and don't change too many things -- this review has got me actively salivating. (Hard work, I assure you.) I mean, it makes the game sound like a cross between Paranoia, Tank Girl, Beyond Thunderdome, and some sort of Eastman and Laird acid trip.
So, um, would be great to hear if this works well with Explorer Edition.
Thanks! And thanks again!

I can't really see why it would not work with the EE of the rules. Anything that may be off from the original is going to be minor at best and easily worked around. I would highly recommend picking Low Life up and giving it a whirl with whatever version of the SW rules you may have.

If I may interject: absolutely! The Explorer's Edition actually brings relatively few changes to the rules. The main thing would be to adjust the stats for weapons from Wacky Wongo's Wonderous Workshop, which is very easy.
As for the changes in bennie use, we already had a similar house rule in our group. On the other hand, Shosuro Kando always gives assignments at the beginning of every game, worth an extra Bennie. For example, we've had to draw our characters, propose a name for our Pile, draw a coat of arms, compose jingles, etc.
