Fair review, but still, the fact someone published a book like this is creepy. I hate to play up to the stereotype of all RPG players being 23-year-old virgins, but really, when you're roleplaying sexual acts in a game, that's definitely a sign you need a better social life. How about skipping an occasional gaming session and going to a bar instead...

I just wanted to congratulate you on the "summary" line. I laughed when I saw it.

Nice review. You seem to have covered this book very well.

The "creepy" factor was something I alluded to, yes.

Good review. I've read the BoEF, and had largely the same impression. It's a little uneven, but the most "mature" look at sex in D&D to date. Which for the "just wanna kill goblins" crowd isn't a concern, but for really immersive games it comes up and when plot points turn on romantic matters (as they so frequently have IRL) it's a difficulty to have it less "covered by rules" than any of the many other aspects of human endeavour that have inspired whole sourcebooks.

Normally I despise chapter-by-chapter reviews of roleplaying games; but I really enjoyed this review. I thought it was enlightening, informative and interesting to read.

Well done, sir.

I find this a fascinating viewpoint. Why shouldn't RPGs deal with sex? I mean, it's something that pervades other forms of entertainment, from Scrubs to Shakespeare, and something that is obviously of interest to us all. Why do you assume that involving it in an RPG is necessarily some kind of wish fulfilment?

I definitely see a BIG difference between watching (not taking part in) something (Scrubs to use your example) where sex is part of a storyline or used for humor or other purposes; and sitting around a table with a bunch of other people (let's be honest usually other guys) going into detail about how you're trying to bone the "hawt elf chixx0r"
