If you long for the days when dungeons simply had to be pillaged and princesses rescued from foul fiends, then Forward...to Adventure! is right up your alley. Make no mistake, though, this isn't just another old-school throwback game.

Glad to see you got this in in time, Jimmie! An excellent review, particularly coupled with Mitch's previous review, as he covered some aspects you didn't, and vice versa.
Thanks!
Oh, and the no-caps name is fine, that's the way I write it myself.

Very cool, Jimmie!

I looked at the PDF before the hard-copy so I was very pleased at how the pictures came out in black and white. After seeing them in color I was not sure what to expect.

Geez...know what else I forgot to mention regarding the art? I loved the color picture on the back with the one guy punching the other guy in the jaw. I thought it was a great illustration for the kind of monster-punching the game really encourages.
That and how many fantasy games have pictures of a guy punching another guy? It's usually all swords and axes and stuff.

This sounds like something I'd be interested in checking out, because it sounds fun and straightforward, but I have to say I'm a little surprised that the reviewer finds the combat system so unique when it's just about exactly the same way Tunnels & Trolls has been handling combat since the '70s. Four-fifths of the class list -- Warrior, Wizard, Rogue, Warrior-Wizard -- is straight out of 5th ed. T&T.
The review doesn't say anything about it being a T&T retro-clone (I'm not sure anyone's even tried to do one of those), but is that part of the game's intent? How big of an influence was T&T on its development?

I know Pundit listed T&T as one of the major influences on FtA!, but it's not a T&T clone at all. There are quite a few bibs and bobs he blended together from various influences to make the game.
