Got 3:16 the other day. Playtested the rules. Fell instantly, madly, hopelessly, and forever in love with it. Every aspect of the game, from the abstract epic combat, to the various way to screw over other players meta-game (while still "cooperating" with them in-game) felt like all the missing bits and pieces that I've always wanted in every other game of this type. The flashback mechanics appealed to the storyteller in me, while the list of badass weapons and kill counter appealed to the laughing juvenile deep down in my soul who still has a stick of fireworks in one hand and a lit match in the other.
But the whole time I was playtesting it, I kept having this nagging feeling somewhere that the game reminded me of something else similar, yet totally different... Something I've tried several times to convert into a table top experience before, but could just never get quite right. At around 5:00 this morning, I awoke from a dream with the sudden revelation that… I could modify 3:16 to run a game of Dynasty Warriors!
So, I've been working on my first mod for 3:16, not even 24 hours since I've owned it.
I'm not even sure it would count as a mod, but one guy said that the game is like Warhammer 30k (the expansion of the empire 10 000 years before the usual setting).
I am waiting for the expansion pack on psychic powers though. Then we might get some interesting D&Dish fantasy conversions going.

Akira Kurosawa is ultimately responsible for everything cool in film.
I immediately thought X-com, but decided against it because of all the great elements of the game as is that would have to be altered or deleted.
It's moments like this when I wish I had spent more character points on intelligence, so I could figure out how to graft a "research tree" type effect onto the original game to get better gear…
Add one part Authority to one part Big Brother house, and shake. Scale Threats for a bunch of superhuman celebrities.
They have powers which do big exciting things- things which earn them ratings.
Ratings translates directly into more attention (tasty tasty attention), fame, money, and access to more Formula X-99 for added and improved superpowers.
Missions
"Justice Defenders... we have a situation!"
"Don't worry Mr. President, we'll be there!"
"The media has already been notified."
"Excellent- it's a pleasure to work with a man who knows the business."
Just like 3:16, except you'd pull off lists for getting basic super-threats and such, and then encounters and junk are handled exactly the same way but with different fiction. Rather than plan their tactics to maximize their entirely selfish kill counts, the supers will be mugging for the cameras and deploying their powers to make themselves look the coolest.

I think the first time I run it I'm going to be doing the Warhammer 30k... "Hatred for Home" works perfectly for when the Horus Heresy rolls around... muahahaha
The PCs will be Luna Wolves.
Hmm. Do people think that boltguns are better represented by Energy Rifles or Slug Rifles?
I'm doing a drift called The Ninth Legion where you're all Legionnaries in the Roman Army, fighting barbarians at the north-western edge of the Empire. The "ranges" become "Tight Formation", "Loose Formation" and "Broken Formation" to reflect the different states that a soldier could find themselves in.
I need to figure out what formation weapons are best suited for and so on.
Obviously Planets become Places, aliens become Tribes and so on.
You could also do the 300 very easily I think. Or Alexander The Great.
