Watching through Star Trek: DS9 lately (check out my thread on that here) had the side effect of prompting me to flip through my old LUG Star Trek RPG books. This was an amazingly good line, but two books stand out in particular - the Narrator's Toolkit books for TNG (Kenneth Hite) and TOS (S. John Ross) Trek. The DS9 Toolkit, while a great book, is very focused on running better DS9 games. The other two are focused on running better games.
They both offer solid advice ranging from the basics to advanced GMing techniques that I think would be of benefit to any gamer.
So, anyone else have any favorite books to suggest along these lines?
Edit for Clarification: by "these lines" I mean gaming books that you'd recommend to anyone, regardless of the system for which they were written.

Full of essays by a variety of game designers talking about their favorite games and explaining why they are great. The catch is that none of them were allowed to talk about games they worked on. Overall there is some great material in the book and everyone should check it out.

Robin's laws of Good Game mastering comes to mind.
It's a great book.
also, The munchkin's Guide to Power Gaming if you want to understand that type of gamer.
Creative Director for Seraphim Guard | Dorkland! - My Blog | I am a Tampa Bay area Gamer and I am looking for other Gamers. | Check Out The Open Core System "It is, in fact, the newest Linux system upgrade for D20 - all the best things of what's come out so far wrapped into one package that looks somewhat different from the original but is far superior and retains all the best aspects." - Edmund Wilfong | In Development: The DeadWorld RPG | I am on Twitter and Facebook.
Every gamer should have some version of Call of Cthulhu on their shelf.
BRP, D20 , or Trail of Cthulhu are all fine games with something to offer.

I would recommend Destiny's Price, a OWOD mage supplement about street gangs, drugs and the like. Very good book.
I really liked the LUG Star Trek books as well.
I highly recommend anything written by C. J. Carella, love his work.
Rifts Conversion Book 2: Pantheons of the Megaverse. Say what you want about RIFTS, but they cram a billion ideas into just about everything. This book has some interesting alternate takes on most of the big pantheons that can be worked into games from super to fantasy.
