[Book/Fiction]: Hellboy: The Companion, reviewed by philreed (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/14/14093.phtml

Philip Reed's Summary:

A fun read that helped me to remember how much fun the Hellboy stories can be, especially when reading the stories isn't at all related to work.

I was looking forward to The Hellboy Companion since it was announced almost two years ago, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a larger, more graphically-intense volume. The Character Profiles section was very much lacking IMO. It has a lot going for it, but it could have been so much more.

Phil - Guy Davis did the art for several of the BPRD storylines - I highly recommend them.

I guess I've got an excuse to go back to the comic store today. I've seen some of Davis' work in the past and enjoyed it (I've got The Marque trade around here somewhere).

Thanks for the tip.

This was likely a case of "anticipation kills the final result." Since I wasn't expecting the book, and didn't even know it existed until I held it in my hands, I avoided that problem.

It's part of the reason why I try to avoid trailers for some movies.
