"This Place is Death" - Locke takes on the burden to stop the island's increasingly violent shifts through time. Meanwhile, Ben hits a roadblock in his attempt to reunite the Oceanic 6 and bring them back to the island, on "Lost," WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Guest starring are Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis, John Terry as Christian Shephard, Fionnula Flanagan as Eloise Hawking, William Blanchett as Aaron, June Kyoko Lu as Mrs. Paik, Melissa Farman as young Frenchwoman, Guillaume Dabinpons as Frenchman #1, Marc Menard as Frenchman #2, Bruno Bruni as Frenchman #3 and Jaymie Kim as Ji Yeon.
Christian Shephard? He just won't stay dead, will he? And interesting that Melissa Farman is credited as 'young Frenchwoman' instead of Danielle Rousseau. I'm not sure we should read anything into it, though, so take off the tinfoil hats.
Prediction time - the title refers to the forthcoming doom of five of the six French scientists. "This place" is, of course, the Island. We'll find out that Danielle didn't actually kill them. She was so traumatized by what happened that a world where she murdered her friends actually made MORE sense than the black smokey alternative. Or maybe Dharma (yes, they're still active on the Island at this point in time) or the Hostiles brainwashed her.

I don't think that DHARMA is still active at this time. I'm pretty sure Ben and Richard gas DHARMA around 1980, and Rosseau is with Jin in about 1989. I know Lostpedia pegs the "purge" to 1992, but that's based on Horace Goodspeed's telling Locke (in a 2004 dream) that he died twelve years ago. My thinking is that Goodspeed was part of some kind of rump DHARMA that kept Swan Station resupplied, and that the Others shot him in 1992, and that when Goodspeed died the continuity of Swan station replacements was interrupted.
I'm sort of hoping that at some point this season, we'll see Goodspeed bringing Kelvin to the hatch, and introducing him to Radinsky, and Goodspeed saying that you'll know your replacement when he comes because he'll know the countersign to the joke "what did the first snowman say to the second snowman?" Then Goodspeed heads out, and on his way off the island gets shot and thrown in the DHARMA charnel pit.

Interesting theory... I stick with the Lostpedia timeline, myself. We shall see, though.

Except Goodspeed died in the Barracks cuz of the gas. He was sitting on a bench in the middle of 'town' - we saw Ben close his eyes, remember?
I would love to see Kelvin and the mysterious Radzinsky in flashbacks, though.

Ooh, I don't remember that. That would blow my 1980-purge theory completely away. Doh!
It bugs me that Rosseau in 1989 would be able to get to the radio tower and change the Numbers recording to her own, without DHARMA noticing. That's another reason I was thinking the gas attack happened before Alex's birth.
Hm, now I wonder if the reason we've never seen Radinsky onscreen is that he's someone whose face we'd recognize if we saw him, a timelost Michael or something.

Yeah. I think the simplest explanation is that the writers just didn't remember Rousseau's timeline when they wrote the episode with the Purge in it. Alternatively, grown-up Rousseau is plenty crazy, poor lady, so anything she said has to be taken with a big grain of salt.

Wouldn't that be trippy? I hope we do see the mystery man before it's over. I'd love to get a Kelvin and Radzinsky flashback episode. And they can actually do it now!

And these poor French people Nadine, we hardly knew thee.
I can't wait to see how they play this out and explain Rousseau never mentioning she met Jin. I stick with the 'completely traumatized and crazified' theory. (Although now I want to go back to the early DVDs and see if she actually had scenes with him. I'm sure she did, but I can't remember any of the top of my head.)
Heeeere comes Smokey...
There goes Montand's arm. Wow!
Holy shit, ruins! Smokey is a four-toed remnant!
Black smoke! This episode is - aiii - they love us so much! (I still remember how some fans described the recent Doctor Who episode that brought Sarah Jane as the new producers making tender love to the old series. This episode is the Lost producers making tender love to seasons 1 and 2, isn't it?)
I want to see inside the Temple so much now.

So, Danielle was defending herself from the three that went into the Temple, and was further crazied out by Jin disappearing.
And I love Jin/Sawyer being so relieved to see each other. They're the bestest buddies ever on the Island.
