[RPG]: Faery's Tale Deluxe, reviewed by Mike Fischer (5/4)

Mike Fischer's Summary:

A beautiful product and game system but a game that may not suit everyone's tastes for fairy adventure.

Nice review, but noticed on looking at the cover image link that there are five authors, but you only list four on your Product Summary.

Thanks for the review.

Could you post a link to your blog? I've been trying to work out how to introduce my 5yo daughter to RPGs.

Thanks, Chris

Good review! Good mix of facts, context, and conclusions.

My blog is pretty modest, but you can take a look at:

http://drfischersgamenight.blogspot.com

I tried Labyrinth Lord with a 5 year old recently. It was interesting because he was able to manage for a while but got bogged down in the decision making. Certainly younger kids can play pretend but I wonder if he was too young for "organized" pretend play.

I decided that if I were to give it another try I'd have miniatures for starters, both figures and maybe even terrain. Or I thought maybe some sort of LARPing. Of course then I laughed because that's pretty much just kids dress up play anyway, or playing house with dolls! Who would have guessed that about 100% of children are actually LARPers or early RPGers?

Seriously though, I'm also looking forward to introducing my children to the games. FTD or Zo may be good options, and board or figure based games may be another approach. Let me know what works best for you-

Mike

I've been saying that for years. I can draw a direct line between my early childhood games of "make-believe" and my introduction to AD&D.

My 10-year-old ran a short adventure for me and her sister with A Faery's Tale. It was great fun.
