[Other]: The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, reviewed by Aeonite (5/5)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/14/14257.phtml

Michael Fiegel's Summary:

A sort of sidequel to The Gamers, this excellent followup features better production values and better writing than its predecessor, and holds up well to repeat viewings. I definitely recommend it.

and I really wonder if this film could have been made with 4th Edition as the ruleset; I doubt it
Actually, I'm convinced it could be.

The jokes would be different, that's for sure, but 4E is hardly bulletproof against geeky cheap-shots!

Well, I think *A* film could be made, but not *This* film. Dorkness Rising deals with rules imbalance, "useless" classes, and the gamist/narrativist debate, and 4E seems to be VERY balanced, VERY gamist, and very much in a mindset that every class has something of equal value to do at all times.

There's plenty of humor to be found in 4E, though. Maybe next movie.

I can't agree more with this review. After it took so long to come out I figured this was going to be bad, but when I saw it at Gencon a few years ago it was really entertaining. It was entertaining enough that the non-gamer wives of some of my friends enjoyed it. It really is a well put together movie and one probably the best gaming related movie.

So does anyone else really want to see the rules for Time Felons. Dead Gentlemen need to make that game, I want to bushwack Lincoln.
