A new game from a new publisher has to do well to break into the rpg fraternities hearts and minds and from the discussions carrying on it looks like Alpha Omega has managed it with top marks.

The Alpha Omega creature manual will debut at Gen Con 2009. If you plan on attending be sure to contact us.
If you would like a copy of The Encountered: Volume 1 for review purposes please let us know.
Hi, Tom and thank you for a great game.
Unfortunately im in the UK, so Gen Con is a bit of a no go for me, wish I could justify the trip but alas it is not to be.
I would love to follow up this review with one for The Encountered if you would be so inclined.

Great Review!
I bought this game a few months ago and love it. I was thinking of doing a review for it here as well. Now if I could talk some players into it.
I'll admit that at first the 6-6 system seemed daunting at first read, but the second time I read it, it all "clicked" and now I would love to give it a go around.
I think I will review it in the next couple of weeks, I have been re-reading it and am in a "hyped" frame of mind for it!

I wouldn't mind reading a slightly more indebt review if you're planning to do one. This review was a nice taster (thank you), but I'd like to know more about the unique bits that make the setting awesome and some more detail, or perhaps very brief examples, of how the rules, combat and magic system works.

I planned on giving at least several tidbits of the things I find awesome/odd/genius/badwrongfun in the review. I'll keep this in mind when I write it.

Thanks for the review!
Having read the core rules myself (but not played yet), I agree on the positive verdict on the setting:
+ Great art brings it alive
+ Very believable scientific advance
+ Millions of hocks for adventures (okay, not millions, but enough to keep you playing a long time)
I disagree with the review regarding the system:
- Information for CharGen is all over the book - you have to read almost everything to just generate your character
- There are many more elegant systems out there. e.g. having to translate your ability score into a dice pool using a specific table, the limited impact of skills vs. attributes on dice outcomes (roll 6d6 for attributes and add +3 for your skill) etc.
I have considered using the setting as an alternative for our SR group, but using a home-brew system to fire the engine.
