About 6 years ago, I was in my last semester at college and I happened to pick up a copy of "The Golden Vine" by Jai Sen, one of the very talented individuals at Shoto press. I even had the fortune to get it signed by the man himself, and it remains to this day one of the best visual novels I have ever read (sorry Gaiman).
But I haven't heard much from them since. I remember vaguely Jai mentioning that he might work on a sequel when he has time off from the Malayan folklore series he is putting out, but his last blog entry, alas, was in 2007 (amusingly, it was to express mixed feelings at the out of print The Golden Vine going for $168 on Amazon and to promise a reprinting, which to my eye, hasn't occurred yet).
Does anyone know what is going on with this company? I am hesitant to wonder if the economic crisis did them a bad turn...
Or does anyone want to chat about the books they have put out? (Though I only have the golden vine personally.)
