46) The Goorn

Goorns are riding burden beasts that have been seeded over many planets by one of the elder races in the sector. They are massive, strong, tireless, and durrable beyond belief (9"/23cm thick skin). Their orangish pelts and hides and broad "smile" makes them seem friendly. The beasts are highly defensive of their herds and their "people" (whom they consider part of their herds.

Edar Smits has the ability to channel the power of a Goorns. He can even grow to a Goorns size (making him a 30 foot tall humanoid), if he chooses. He is one of the roaming paladins of the coreward sectors, travelling via space ship (with a small tight knit support crew) doing good, rescuing people (when they can), and supporting the Star Patrol.

Wow, this has sat for a while. Granted, I was gone, but seriously, no one else is coming up with these?

47 The Aspect

The three champions of the Triple Goddess realized they couldn't keep up with the demands placed on their time and decided to create some help. Each provided abilities drawn from their own talents: flight, strength, endurance, enhanced senses (primarily mystical in nature) and energy attacks.

The problem came when they tried to decide on the Aspect's appearance, as each wanted her own species used as the template. The squabbling lasted long enough the Aspect got bored and left to start solving problems while the others resolved the issue. They never called her back.

The Aspect has a vaguely feminine appearance, is bald and has purplish skin to help absorb the ultraviolet radiation it uses for power. Oddly, for an entity created to serve a goddess, the Aspect sees itself as ungendered rather than female, perhaps because of some inherent sense of insight. As a construct, it doesn't need to eat, drink or breathe, or rest really. The Aspect has made several friends and allies over the decades it has been active, but refuses to formally join any groups, given it has a dedicated purpose.

((Well, that's a little more Tamaranean than I intended. Fun that the 'child' ended up a bit more mature than its 'mothers'.))

((Hey, a two-fer while I'm here.))

48 Field Trip

It was supposed to be just a simple school trip to the wildlife preserve planet of Hoama. But of course life is never that simple, even for advanced species. Somewhere along the way, the nav system crashed and dumped all the data before opening a random wormhole and jumping through it.

Terribly sorry about the inconvenience, but you really should've bought the extended warranty, captain.

Now stuck at sub-luminal speeds until they can find a starport with a qualified mechanic (or at least a comm node so they can call the Astrogation Assistance Association), the kids are having to deal with any number of weird challenges while also keeping up with their coursework (because the teaching programs would still be on the job). Still, between the On The Job Training and all the Independent Study opportunities, they'll probably be graduating about the time they get home.

See Post 43

49)Tondar

Not quite the Eternal Companion, but a close runner up. Tondar is a just under four meter tall lithomorphic anthropoid (Giant Rock Ape). His mineral based metabolism gives him unheard of durability, great strength, and the ability to survive in all sorts of environment. Because of his metabolism, if he over exerts himself he gains temperature, eventually reach the melting points of most rocks. This is a trick he has utilized to throw lava balls at targets. Since he is a lithomorph, his lifespan is measured in the thousands of standard years. While not fully sentient, Tondar is sapient. This has managed to help him navigate civilization and crisis situations. It has also allowed him to find "good companions" that will help people like he will. He has spent time with many a Cosmic Hero (The Protector (until recently), The Futuremen, White Feather Wing and the Guardian, and the Star Phantom). He seems to spend time with the heroes, assisting them in their calling... eventually deciding to spend some time doing something else (like hunting tasty rocks, playing with power cats, piling rocks)... eventually finding another Hero (or someone with heroic inclinations) to spend more time with. Currently, he is spending times in a interstellar school buss with the Field Trip as the unofficial group mascot.

I owe you one more... I will get to it in a bit.

50) Justic Tyme

Not every hero is as heroic as the tales depict them. It is more than just a more "realistic view", in Justic's case. Tyme often does the right thing, but always for a price - as a mercenary hero. The Price is not always credits (though the price usually includes it), it is often favors, or access to something, or some other thing someone controls. (Those favors are often useful for his next job or something he anticipates in the useful.) They seem somewhat random, until you see how it fits in the next move. Yes, he is very picky about his next job (and seldom picks up random cases that fall at his feet... unless the pay is really good).

Justic is a capable armsman. He is highly trained, highly disciplined, and physically superior (for someone of Imperial Stock). These are not his credentials. No he is a level four hyper cognitive. He sees the next, next step, on the fly. He can compete against Minds in most games of strategy. He can predict to a degree a next option, he can almost seems to know the future by seeing the pieces in motion. This process also seems to give him the appearance of super speed and hyper reflexes (while his reflexes are improved, they are not meta level).

He is the ballet of action. He is capable of dealing out death, but that is not his primary goal or method of resolution. He often goes non-lethal, mastery of unarmed combat. He is most often the acrobat/ intrusion expert. He finds things that he often suspects are there. Things get changed in some way for the opposition. He makes himself the lightning rod, nudging action and watching it all come towards him. When the opposition is out of position or off balance, that is when he can bring them to their knees... and bring the forces of law upon them (or the forces of common opinion/ press). He collects his fee and his Price.

His MO often includes that he or an agent places things in locations around him, so he seems to have the right thing at the right time. ("You had Alec put a beamer taped behind this dumpster two days ago?" Blows on the heated barrel, "Yes, it seemed that asking at The Club might provoke a response, and this is where I would chase us to. ") He has some regular hired investigators and sometimes picks up cut outs to do the preliminary work. (Ever read a Nero Wolf Story/ saw an episode? He had his investigator do a number of seemingly random things... that make sense at the reveal.)

51 The Celestial Chorus

No one is quite sure where the Chorus comes from, although given their sudden appearance on the galactic scene it seems probable they were liberated from a non-spacefaring world. They seem to be adapting to the changed circumstances well; although they still engage in ritual predation, they've started targeting warlords and criminals instead of whatever large lifeform happens to be closest.

The 'chorus' are each a two-headed winged serpent. Their skulls are a maze of resonating cavities that give them the ability to produce an awesome variety of sonic effects, ranging from simple mesmerizing tones to durastone pulverizing blasts. How they see is a mystery, as they have no optic sensors, although echolocation seems a safe bet (the two heads would grant them a measure of parallax).

Communication with the Chorus remains a problem. They only seem to be capable of singing in tones, and telepaths report that their consciousness is too diffuse to grasp easily. Which just adds to the mysteries in the universe.

We needed another non-humanoid.

You're a Mage player right?

51b)The Celestial Chorus
Let's keep the "these guys are new on the scene" bit and the while first paragraph of 51a as thats great. This Chorus is a group of floating coloured crystal spheres. The Choir "sings" by having the each sphere produce a note. Each note produces a set effect. From hypnotising melodies to pulverising blasts. Its unknown what sensory abilities they have, though they have no visible organs. Like 51a these minds are to diffuse to easily grasp. Though some effeorts at musical communication have shown promise(think Close Encounters).

52) Daigi-Maester

When you see him, he appears in that armored transhuman form favored by many Celestials and Giants of Light/ Knights of the Stars. The Daigi-Maester is a being of solid energy. He can manifest in the standard realm, emerging from a digitally connected device or receiver. (Being a solid energy being he is nearly invulnerable, super strong/tough, and fast. He can effect complex machines by interacting with their components directly. He can also manifest in virtual or daiji worlds. The daigi world is where "he" normally exists most of the time. It is there where he is "The Hero of Renown".

He defends ancient world machines and world nets. He protects digital beings from outside tampering, malicious daigi, micronian invasion, and being from across the astreal who enter our universe through the daigi or virtual worlds. He maintains integrity of VR environments during crisis with his solid energy abilities, to save millions of digital beings. Using the FTL Omniwave comm net, he can be almost anywhere in the universe in moments.
