🎨 Creative [5E] What do you do with your Demiplane?

Simple question: you’re a warlock, and for whatever reason you’ve chosen Demiplane as one of your Mystic Arcana. What do you do with it? Remember, you can cast it once per day, and you can access the plane for one hour during that time. The Mystic Arcanum is not a spell, so you can’t hack it using effects that interact with spells or spell slots. You can assume any other details about your warlock build that you like (patron, invocations, spells, whatever). Discuss!

Store my massive Beanie Baby collection. Open an extra-dimensional coffee shop, catering to powerful fiends and celestials. Fill it with acid and then casually share information about how to reach it at the next Warlocks United meeting. 30'x30' gelatinous cube. Two words: bounce house.

First put some sort of communication system in it that allows access to the patron. Then cover the walls in their symbols. This is for brownie points as well as utility.

As for other things: a summoning circle, a chain that does the same to mortal creatures, and some trophies to scare either sort of critter.

Or an escape route for the entire party in the form of a Gate or other sort of portal. Sadly this only has one place it can go- the patron's realm/home. Cash in some of those brownie points to get to the characters' desired location.

Or a collection of body parts of people who the warlock wants to keep tabs on. Hair, fingers, toes, etc. can be used to target scrying type spells and effects.

Or storage for people and monsters in stasis (possibly Reduced to increase their numbers). Get paid big bucks by those who want to be out of sight for a year or three. Much more lucrative than simple smuggling with less effort and danger. In worst case scenarios, these can be replacements for lost PCs.

Or artifacts that the warlock has yet to discover their powers or methods of destruction.

It is a spell, just not one that uses a spell slot. So if you're, say, a Sorlock, there's no spell slot for you to convert to sorcery points, but there's no reason you couldn't use metamagic like Extended Spell on it.

Storage space is of course a given. If you stock it with appropriate food, drink, furniture, and other such supplies (a chamber pot would probably be appreciated), it makes for a good prison, or conversely, a safehouse for anyone you wish to protect, at least on a temporary basis. If you give detailed descriptions of how you have it set up, it can serve as a meeting place with other people and entities who can cast a spell.

It does not seem like it makes for a good hideaway for yourself, unless you either have Plane Shift or something similar as well, or have a trusted partner able to cast the spell to retrieve you, or an 'address' of another Demiplane that happens to be open to the original plane at the time, because it does not mention being able to cast Demiplane from within the demiplane itself to return to your original plane, so you either need another means to leave or for someone to come retrieve you.

It would be nice if there were rules for doing more than furnishing one of these spaces, so that you could eventually grow it and change its nature into an actual demiplane in the general sense... or perhaps that's nonstandard Wish magic or even greater than that. Even without that, though, you could conceivably create a network of differently furnished 30' cubed rooms (possibly subdividing some of them, putting in extra floors, walls, etc.?) accessible only to yourself and those others with the spell with whom you share the details.

That's a good point, I hadn't considered that...

I mean, it doesn't have to be a problem. If you knew you were interested in taking Demiplane as your 8th level Arcanum at 15th level and using it for more than just storage, imprisoning/protecting others, or even trash disposal (I mean, really, you could potentially fit a lot of junk into a 30' by 30' by 30' space, couldn't you?), then more than likely you took Plane Shift as your 7th level Arcanum two levels earlier and are darn careful to always be carrying the tuning fork for your home plane or another one where you have safe places to go. Then you can build as big a network of these things as you like, the only caveat being that by yourself you can only transition between demiplanes once per day (there being nothing stopping you from casting Demiplane the next day to go to a different one) or return to a regular plane once - unless you can make new tuning forks for your demiplanes and have Plane Shift serve double duty, but that has the issue of stranding you till you get a long rest.

Then to stick with the theme, you probably take Imprisonment for your 9th level Arcanum and start investing tons of gold in jade carvings of your extradimensional Hedged Prisons.

The walls are made of stone or wood. What happens if you break them?
Take your pick:

1) Break out into the larger Ethereal or Astral plane, depending on cosmology model. Better have some good resources for navigating either.
2) Demiplane is a closed loop, so find yourself coming out of the wall on the other side.
3) The entire demiplane and all its contents fizzles and pops out of existence.

As to that: It's a bit counterintuitive, but AFAICT there's no reason you couldn't just Banish yourself from your own plane.

I wouldn't take Plane Shift for this purpose, as you can only use it once per day. I mean, I might do that if I wanted to use it offensively (it's a great attack), but being able to go anywhere you like exactly once per day has the potential to cause more problems than it solves.

It would be nice if there were rules for doing more than furnishing one of these spaces, so that you could eventually grow it and change its nature into an actual demiplane in the general sense... or perhaps that's nonstandard Wish magic or even greater than that. I like the idea of a private library/study on the one hand, or a sort of secluded glade on the other. The latter would take a lot of effort to get right, though, unless you have access to wishes or something (set up a waterfall as a centerpiece, pack the plane with lots of plants and some subtle artificial lighting, get some illusion magic for ambience, etc).
