Kaga and Akagai are crazy in general so if you're gonna pick two of them to be villains, they're a good choice.
We get more crazy, yandere types down the road too, as I understand it.

Must be tough to be Enterprise, then, since it seems like everybody in the Sakura Empire is gunning for her. That's what happens when you find yourself apparently unkillable like she is. Then again, she's got the luck of the devil on her side (and a cute little repair ship that's dressed as a nun, too).

EDIT: Just did my first retrofit of the game. Of course, it's Ranger, and her outfit change is rather interesting, as she's going for more of a punk-rocker look in it.

Speaking of, the event is taunting me- I've been getting pretty much every ship I've had my eye on except the Shoukaku out of the drops and the event build tab, including the Enterprise.

I'm giving it a shot if it'll run on Nox. Saw steamer/MMO Gridnder guy ChaosD1 play it for a stretch last week and it looked like fun. I like that Ranger has 'RNG' on her skirt. Sure, a reference to her name but also a fun in-joke I'm sure.

If it works, I want to get Columbia as she's named for where I live.

For me, anytime I got an SR, it was almost always the Shoukaku. I did finally get the Zuikaku, but she came from the store. I pretty much have all but one of the limited ships. The only one I'm missing is the Akatsuki. Going to be spending a lot of time in A3 and B3 to get her.

I hope it works for you. It is quite fun and probably more twitchy than what you'd expect from a mobile game. It's also very generous when it comes to gacha supplies, though a number of ships can be gotten as drops.

It's pretty entertaining thus far. Since I don't really have any affection towards the characters like I do with, say, Fate/Grand Order I can just pick who looks cool. I'm probably being horribly inefficient in how I go about things too, but I don't care too much.

(Current fleet: Long Island, Ranger and Repulse backing up Javelin, Cassin and Shropshire.)

I will ask one question on common wisdom - which kind of ship is it better to build towards in the beginning? Light/Heavy/Special, I mean. Limited I know is a grab-bag. I went with Special to fill out my Carriers/etc out and have a full fleet, and getting Ranger and Repulse worked out but I'm not sure where to go from here.

Early on you're going to want to use low cost ships. By low cost I mean how much oil they use. It's kind of similar to AP in that regards. Right now, the cost shouldn't be too bad, which is why I also want to advise against limit breaking your ships early on. Yes, it will raise their level cap and raise their stats, but it'll also raise their oil cost, so you don't want to do it until they're closer to their level cap. So, early on, you'll want to stick with commons and rares as they will generally cost less.

As for what parts of the gacha you're going to want to watch out for, certain ships are only going to be available in certain parts. Light is generally reserved for escort ships like destroyers. Heavy covers a wide field, but is also the only place for battle cruisers and battleships. Special is generally reserved for aircraft carriers. That said, depending on the server, some ships are available in all three gachas. The USS San Diego, for example, is available in all three sections in the EN servers.

With that said, in terms of ships you get, a lot can be gotten by drops on the map, and some are drop only, though those are mostly Sakura Empire ships. As you go up in the map you'll unlock other fleet options, starting with map 2, I think, so you'll be able to bring six ships with you in battle.

One nice thing about the game is that, if you go into collection and go to archives, any ship that you don't have will be shaded out, but if you select them, the game will tell you where you can get that ship, so if they're a drop, you'll have the option to go to that map and try for them.

With all that said, you generally want to go for the class you feel you're lacking in. There's a good mix all around, but if you feel you can do better for Aircraft carriers, you would go in the special gacha and roll there. If you end up getting the Enterprise, a build only ship, you're pretty much set for Carriers as she's pretty much the most powerful one in the game.

That said, we're also in an event if you're playing the English version. Might want to consider rolling for the limited releases.

Taking that advice I also picked up Northampton and Hyuuga. Hyuuga's already really good and Northampton's my first heavy cruiser.
