Well... uh... holy forking shirtballs?

I mean... I got nothing else. I don't think anyone saw that coming. Matt certainly didn't.

Poor Matt. He was looking at a nice little two week vacation... and then he got assigned a term paper.

This thing with Matt Mercer: is it plot-related to the most recent episode of Critical Role, or is it something you can tell us about without spoiling the plot?

So OK.
Spoiler: Show
They were going to get arrested after the mage that escaped them• outed them in front of the Krynn Empress, Caleb gave the Beacon/dodeca back to the Krynn Empress. And they became declared heroes of the Krynn. Then the episode ended a bit early.

*the one that killed all the scouts before they got to the city of beasts

Spoilers ahead:

Spoiler: Show
I really hope Matt plays the Empress and her court as intelligent people and leaders and doesn't just jump the Nein to "they're heroes so we're going to believe everything they say" status. They walked in, spun a bunch of BS that essentially no one believed, and were in the middle of getting arrested before that last gambit. Just because they, in desperation, restored a relic of the Krynn doesn't magically make them trustworthy to everyone. They should be interviewed in Zones of Truth at least.[/SPOILERS]

It’s plot related, but the meta is similar to how things have played out before. Do you remember Nicodranas?
